Face it, making money on the internet is pretty hard, especially when you are new to it and don't know where to start off. In this thread, I am going to mention the best and hardest way to make money online, no there is no site about this and it is so obvious people have pretty much forgotten about this method. I personally have been researching day and night all over the net for around 5 months now and still doing it as of now. But now, I have an idea of ways to make money online, as well as what a pyramid scheme is, a ponzi scheme, what a PTC (Paid To Click) site is, a matrix, what a referral is (lol, you might think its funny but I had no idea what that was), surveys, freelancing (website design, article writing, etc), paid to write reviews, paid to post on forums (kind of like this one), and those few sites that have those unique concepts no one has thought of before, the list can go on forever. To get to the point, I want to say this, have we forgotten how the most successful "Brick and Mortar" businesses came to be? When I was young and didn't know much abou the internet, I always wanted start a business in real life, but I knew it was hard. Now you MUST read this sentence to understand: I understood that the truly most successful businesses had something unique, never thought of, or was a twist on something already made; these are the true and best ways to make money in real life and online. But people have forgotten that online, they tend to have a habit of following the so called tried and true ways of the "gurus" and don't think for themselves. With the new Web 2.0 world, there are endless possibilities, the internet makes it much easier for the normal people to make good money online. Why? because there is no need for a substantial amount of start up capital to fund your business like you do in REAL LIFE. In real life, depending on your business, you need money to fund employees, have a building for your company to provide the service or product, pay for the lease of the building and land, advertise your business (which can cost a lot) and that is only listing a few of the expenses. On the internet, there is very little expenses, if you are starting up a website all you need is to pay for a small fee compared to real life businesses, and the same goes for advertising, much easier and a more variety of ways to promote your site to the world with much less out of pocket expense. Truly the most successful people defy the laws of logic and reason, and think outside the box, they do something crazy, something that in real life would seem like an "out of this world" idea or concept, weird, but it worked. I've been blabbering on for a while now, so I will show you a case study of a person who has made a lot of money using his THINKING CAP. :) CASE STUDY Have you ever heard of the Million Dollar Homepage? This was 4 years ago, in 2005 a 21 year old Alex Tew created a website called the Million Dollar Homepage. In early 2006 he made around a million dollars in a few short months! Alex Tew was originally a normal university guy in business who had loans like 95% of the university population and wanted to find some way to make some extra money so he wouldn't be losing his mind when he graduated that he would be having to spend his first few years paying off his loan. He created this website that sold pixels for 1 US dollar each for advertisers (this was a new concept in 2005), his website had exactly 1 million pixels. First selling to his friend who had a music website for 400 pixels, in a 3 weeks time he had sold 4700 pixels to his friends and family members. After reaching the $1000 dollar amount, a press release was sent out and was picked up by the BBC. News spread and his page became very popular getting more sales and soon he became a certified millionaire in about 6 months (August-January) selling all of his pixels. This is a great case study on being creative with yourself, not limiting your opportunities. This is also a great case study to show how copying the tried and true methods of a "guru" can do, after the success of Alex Tew's Million Dollar Homepage website, many others copied him hoping to get the same success he had, only to find that it wasn't so. So what I want you to walk away with at the end of the day is, be creative and the more hard work you put into it, the rewards will be greater than following those gurus that claim their method is the best. Be diligent, and you don't have to make a totally new concept, just make a twist of something else and be a Real Entrepreneur (Definition: a person who opens a business venture and takes a risk for it) But there is less of a risk on the internet like I said in the aforementioned paragraphs. So go out there and be creative! If it doesn't work, try something else, there is really not that much to lose compared to those real life "brick and mortar" entrepreneurs. "If you can't think outside of the box, make a hole and get out of the box, then burn it, there now you can think outside of the box" EduCashin

I must admit that although you may be new here at MyLot, your post is one of the greatest that I have ever seen here. It says a lot a holds a lot of truth. In fact it's all true -- it is definitely much easier to earn on the Internet than offline. A creative idea/concept can explode all across the Net in a fairly short time causing a person to amass a great deal of money. In the offline world it takes much more financial investment, time and energy!

Age is unimportant. It's knowledge and experience that counts! And different people have gained experienced in different areas at different speeds. Guess that's what make us all Different!

That was perhaps the best bit of advice I have seen on the subject. I don't follow all the fads anyway. I make my money in a plodding manner as a freelance writer. I won't get rich but I won't fall victim to the latest get rich crap either.

Thank you Randync, and I agree about all that get rich crap on the internet. But since I have a lot of time on my hands, I like to try some of them on for fun to see how much of a scam these things are and tell other people about my experience, but then again, some are truly very legitimate and very informative. And about the freelance writing thing, I don't know if this will help but I found this blog a while ago (kinda useless to me since I'm not that great at writing) some female (I presume) who makes around 6 figures a year freelance writing, she just blogs about stuff and usually has a lot of resources on sites that will pay. There was another commenter on here that talked about freelance writing too, I gave the link to her as well so I might as well give it to you too maybe it'll help you out. http://ravens-writing.blogspot.com/

I took in everything you said but it still comes back to what I do best and that is doing surveys! I make enough to keep me happy and that's what's important to me!

That is great! Pardon me asking, but when you say you do surveys, it is for extra money online am I right? Because statistically and logically it is not possible to make a living out of doing surveys. I am just curious what you meant by saying doing surveys thats all.

Totally agree with this article. Sometimes people rely too much on employment as the best and safest way of earning money. They can't get out of that thought because they are afraid of trying out new things which are not ordinary for them. The most successful men are those in business. And you are very correct when you mentioned that internet is such a great channel to start a business and earn money withouth putting much a capital. Very good article.

Yes it doesn't hurt to try new things, but to an extent. I say this because I do not mean to try every new program as "trying out new things", because many of them are scams. One must be a SMART risk taker, not an "eeny meeny mino mo" kind of risk taker, those kinds of people won't get too far. Also thanks for the complement! :D

Haha it took me 30 minutes to write this, and I was almost late for work because of it LOL. Ahh yes I used to be like you and didn't know much about the concepts people mentioned online, if you diligently research and read forums you will start to learn about these things and they will be second nature to you. But if you do have any questions just feel free to ask me. Making money online is definitely hard, but we can make it easier for each other if we help each other out, that is purpose of this section and all the other money making forums out there, so I hope you have seen a new light reading my discussion post.
