Is there an actual hell

My understanding of Hell is alot different than what most people believe. I worship a merciful God, not one who would blackmail us by saying "worship me or burn for eternity". I believe that that the actual translation of Hell is "Hades". When the bible speaks of Hell, I believe that it is talking about about a souless grave where we are nothing more than dust and bones. Im not expecting my opionion to be widely shared, but I would like to hear other people's opinions\reaction on this issue.

No one has come back to tell us if there is really hell right?Read Mathew 25:31-46 The Sheep & the Goats. I do believe that there is hell myself. Each one of us has to answer for his own soul when the time comes, when God separates the sheep is from the goats.

I've read Mathew 25:31-46 But this scripture has no impact on how I view God. I just couldn't worship a god that would send me to hell for not worshiping him. I believe that the lord would prefer people to worship him because they choose to, not because they are scared that they will be sent to hell so they can burn for eternity.

Hi r9cyber, I agree with you in the sense that there is no hell, churches have used the idea of hell and the devil to scare people for thousands of years. I have been reading the Bible for nearly sixty years and have many opinions different from most churches. I do not take the Bible literally but if others want to do that it's fine with me. Blessings.

Hello Pose123, I do appreciate your response, especially from someone who has been reading the bible as long as you have. Down south where I currently live, the belief in a physical hell is very strong. I was expecting to get a lot of negative replies "still am". Thank you again, and may heaven be the paradise you desearve.
