Do you really think that honesty is the best policy?

Hello ulqu1orra,good day to you! Well, regarding to your discussion that if I will be in a situation that I must tell I lie in order to protect my pride to anyone. I think i will just tell my wife that i have a girl because it is good to say the truth rather to tell a lie because if i will say the truth she will be get mad at me and even if i will not tell it to her, I do still believe that there will be a time that she will also know it and i know when she is the one who know first that I have a girl she will really got angry with me for an instances, then i know my wife will say this to me "why?you did not told me earlier?". With this particular situation you will the good effect of telling the truth rather to lie for a long time, that's why for me "honesty is the best policy". But honestly speaking not all the time you must stand for this particular saying because sometimes there are situation, which your last option is to lie. Lie for a particular good objective is good it is called "white lie". I also do believe with this White lie because of it's good objective to save something or someone. In the government, I think it really happen most for the reason they have friends with other politician and sometimes they have a deal for such alive. One example in the government in my own opinion is this, you are in the court of justice and you are pushing to tell a lie because if you will not tell a lie, your family will be killed. Imagine that particular situation, I think if you are on his/her situation the only thing that you must do is to lie for the life of your family. It's really hard to think about this kind of gamble situation. That's why i do believe that being honest to your self is also depend to the situation that you encounter that's why i think not all the time you must be "honesty is the best policy". I think that policy has its limitations.. we ought to be honest at all times but there are some points in our lives that we just have to tell a "WHITE LIE". We tend to tell those white lies because we need to, not because we want to.. sometimes, we tell white lies in order to save someone or maybe because we don't want other people to be hurt.. Nonetheless, honesty is still the best policy..

Hi ulqu1orra, Honesty is the best policy in most cases. I don't think that a couple should cheat on each other because it is almost certain to be discovered at some time. There may be times when telling the truth to someone will cause a bigger problem than saying nothing and this is what I meant by 'in most cases' Sometimes we have to look at the consequences of our words. Such saying, "Honesty is the best policy" was coined and passed from generation to generation, because time and time again, it is proven to be true. It is still applicable right now. At home and at work, or in public dealings, it is a good thing to be honest always. It may not benefit you financially at times, it may even ostracize you from others, but it will always make you feel good and proud of yourself.

Honesty is overrated these days. You know why? Because people are being honest for all the wrong reasons. Some people tend to be honest because they are waiting to be rewarded (which shouldn't be the case). I hate it when people would do honest deeds just because they are waiting for that cash reward in the end. Real honest people are rare nowadays... * sigh *

Cheating can always harm anyone. I don't want to be with someone who would lie to me. I want a stress free and uncomplicated life.
