Facebook at the workplace

I am one of those people that check my facebook everyday, and if I am bored I check it more than once a day. Every job I have ever had, working for small companies, has banned facebook at work. I always wondered, "What's the big deal?" Recently, I started working for a huge company, and I was really surprised to find out that on my first day of work, I was told that it is encouraged to use facebook!!!!!!!! So what does that say about the small companies???? I think the samller companies were trying to have a tighter control over their workers. I think the samller companies should realize that happy workers are more productive and generate more profit. =)

I only check it at home or at school, unfortunately. The business I work for doesn't encourage it, like yours (although that would be AMAZING!!) I work at a smaller company, and as you said..they ban facebook. They also ban ANY site, actually, except for one that we need to do our work on. It's pretty ridiculous.

And that's exactly how it was every small place I ever worked!!!!! My new company now does not care where you go on the internet as long as your job is done!!
