mylot ratings

I want to thank all of you for being wonderful people to me. I enjoy reading your posts, even if some of you give me a negative rating. I do not know why you sometimes give me a negative rating, since I am just honest with you and truly say what I believe. I want to be truthful with you. When I answer your discussions, I nearly always give a positive rating to the post that I am responding to. I think that you deserve a positive from me even when you disagree with me if you are expressing your honest opinion. I do not expect you to always agree with me. Honesty is important. However, I almost never give a best response because I do not want to hurt anyone's feelings. How do you decide what rating to give to someone?

Hi albert, Mylotters are free to give ratings as positive/negative according to their will. But mylot never encourage those people who are giving negative rating purposely and the particular person’s rating will also getting down. My rating is also gone down eventhough I am giving a positive rating to all those I am crossing. Now I realized that there is no point to worry on ratings it will come and go and we can’t control because the key is not in our hands. Be happy and do favors to others that only we can do. Happy posting.

Yes, I do think that you are right. All we can do is to try to be good people and to be nice to others. We have no control over what other people choose to do.

I almost always rate with a positive. It doesn't matter if I agree or disagree with someone. On the rare occasion that I do give a negative it is because the person is either cheating their way through mylot (ie copying other peoples posts and passing then on as their own), or the person is downright rude to me. You don't happen to participate in heated discussions, such as politics and religion, do you? Because, if you do chances are this is where your rating gets hit with a negative. Though I could always be wrong. I always give a best response. Hopefully it makes someone's day. Happy mylotting!

Hello Sacmom. I do try not to copy other peoples posts, although I guess it is hard to start a discussion that someone has not started before. I do not want to be rude to you or to anybody else. Have a wonderful day!

Sorry, I don't think I made myself clear. I meant when someone copies someone else's discussion/response word for word and passing it on as their own (AKA plagiarism). With almost 170,000 users on mylot similar discussions are bound to come up from time to time, even if we do the search thing first, so I don't really consider it the same thing.

When I was new in mylot I personally rate the post topics and comments as positive whenever I feel I like what they have said. Now, not no more. I can simply sigh when ever there are good or bad comments. Maybe I am just being extra careful on the rating I will give to any post.

I do try to give honest and sincere comments on discussions, although I want to give positives. Only someone who visciously taacks me would get a negative. I do not mind someone disagreeing with me.

Rating system of mylot has some problems with it. People give negatives without reason and the stars tend to fall. I give a positive to a person whose post is good to read is along with the discussion. If it's not, I don't even care to give a negative because earning a star is hard and I know what it feels like to have a star dropped from 8 to 6 in a day. So I give a positive or give nothing. bourne

I have only given out a few ratings but they were positive ones. I don't think I would give a negative just because I didn't agree. I maybe would if someone was being outright scandelous. If I dont approve of someones comment I either skip it or voice my opinion. If I get a negative rating (dont know how to find out) then I will just take it as someone didn't like what I said and move on. There are always 2 different opinions and mylot is a place for us to voice them.

I usually like to see people express their different opinion, on most things. If we all express our opinions then we can see things from different prospectives and make more informed opinions.

I always give out a positive rating. How do you even know when someone gave you a negative rating?

hi Lxandra. You get a positive rating from me also. I guess there is no real way to tell of someone gives you a bad rating or not.

I give everyone a positive rating that responds to my discussions, I won't rate if they say something that doesn't have anything to do with the discussion and if they are calling me names or being nasty to others than I will rate negative. I rate negative very rarely but I have done it. I'm sorry you got rated negative, that happens to me when I post in politics LOL I gave you a positive since I thought your discussion was very good.

I don't give negative ratings. I think this is a place where your opinions should mean something, even if we disagree. Now, if someone was rude or nasty in their comments, it might get mine and someone else's attention. But there is no reason to give anyone a negative for their opinions alone. I give everyone a plus, if I think to rate, which I do most of the time.

I also Barb do not like to give negative ratings. I never give someone a negative just for not agreeing with me. Not everyone has had our experiences or seen the things that we have seen.

Honestly, i will always give a positive rate to the post that i have ever read. Eventhough, i do not agree with the comment, as long as he or she is not attacks the other, i will give a posistive rate because i respect everyone's opinion. But if see the post that are really mean and disturb the other, i think i should give him negative rate.

I always give people a better rating, because what I would like to always look at it positively, I do not want to hurt anyone, so I am very sincere in my opinion and to help.

Albert, I too always give positive responses in the discussions. If I don't agree with the post I will still give a positive unless the person has attacked the person with the question. I don't usually see that too much so I haven't really given any negatives yet. I wait for a couple days before giving a BR because I don't like to give it out too quickly. I try to award that to the person who I feel has answered with the answer that best suited my question. My feelings have never been hurt by not getting a BR, mainly because you don't get an email saying that you didn't get it. It does however feel good if someone rewards your response with one. BTW I gave you a positive on this topic. Thanks for a good discussion.
