Vacation Plans and the Economy

My family is not planning on taking any type of extended vacation this summer. We will be taking a few day trip vacations but no real plans to travel. Most of my friends seem to be taking the same type of approach even with some outstanding travel discounts available out there. This could be a real tough summer for a lot of the vacation area economies. I know most of them had bad summers last year but I think this one could be worse. Does anyone see this differently? What are your personal plans?

Actually,I do plan to take my daughters on a small vacation this summer. I am hoping to go back to Virginia and Tennessee to visit family and friends. I also hope that I can take them on some day trips and I hope to be able to take them to an amusement park. I know that money is tight and we will make concessions but I hope to do some travel. We will take food with us to eat and we will not stop to eat our meals at fast food restuarants. I have been saving for this and I hope to make it happen. We got to go on vacation last year as we went with my husband when he went for work to Georgia. We had a great time and I hope to go back to Savannah next summer.

Down here in Florida we've seen a slight decrease in visitors but it hasn't been as bad as expected. Turns out that we're getting visitors who would have gone someplace else if the economy had been better. As for us, we're not planning to go away this summer because we have a small business to run. We can do the beaches anytime so maybe later on we'll take off for a day or two...but not right now.
