Hi gang just wanted to let everyone no I haven't disappeared from the face of the earth. I have been lucky enough to land some freelance work that is may turn out to be an avenue for me to start my own business a little ways down the line. For now I am trying to get enough work to keep me going all month and enough left over to pass one to anther myloter here, with the possibility of a third one coming in as well. So I will be busy, busy, busy, I will try to answer discussions as I get the chance but I will be posting very little from now on. That doesn't mean I don't love you guys, and anyone wanted to get in touch personally with me, pm and I will give my home email address so that we don't lose contact. Now to make this into a discussion all you freelancers out there, do you feel you are finally getting it all together, or are you still struggling?

I had signed up for some sites but haven't done a thing with them. I am giving my notice today at my (nearly) full time job to start my own newspaper. I have printed my first special section, kind of a reference guide for my town. But anyway maybe I will find some time to do a little writing on the side for extra cash. But then again, maybe not. Who knows. Good luck with your work. Glad you are keeping busy, and most importantly, making a little CASH.

Glad to hear things are going so well for you. I don't do freelance work I am a crafter. But let me tell you it is real hard to sell anything nowadays. I am struggling again this year but doing better than last year so that is a plus. I just wish I could get to the point of having 1 sell per month. Isn't that a sad goal?

I am so happy for you! Congratulations! I'm not a freelancer. I've toyed with the idea of trying. I also considered trying to find work proofreading, but I never followed through. I just don't have that much perserverence in my, I guess. Good luck with these opportunites.

Whew,I am glad that things may finally be looking up for you and I hope and pray that this pans out for you and your friend. Nope I am not getting it all together I thought with the warmer weather hubby would be finding more work but it seems that not alot of people are hiring these days and keeping their money tight to their chest so to speak. So, we are barely making our bills thank god I can help out a bit with what little I make online but when every penny counts that is what we have to do keep the money close to chest and be a penny pincer. Well, I am just glad that things are working out for you and pray they continue to on..good luck and I'll be rooting for you..

Naaaa... I'm still struggling, even to get things finished in time, let along being accepted. Mind, I think it's more difficult if you're British. However, I wish you all the luck in the world with your endeavours my friend. You deserve a bit of luck and I think I have your e-mail address. I'll check that and come back to you. Good luck and all the Brightest Blessings in the world, my friend. You go girl!!!

Yes, it is... I realise that, my friend. It's just that most of these publishing sites are American and will only allow offers to American and Canadian citizens. I still enjoy sharing my writing, so no worries. I'm just happy to hear that you have an opportunity and wish you all the luck in the world. xx

I am so glad you have found something that will tide you over and maybe work into something better in the future. I see how you struggle on here, but am proud to say you are always on top of something, some would just sit around and whine that there is nothing out there for them. I wish I had the gift you have to write, when I try my mind just goes blank. We will be here when you have time to drop in, you won't be forgotten.

Congratulations, winterose! I'm happy that you've found something that seems to be very lucrative for you! I started out freelancing as a typist. Then, that led to typesetting, which led to proofreading and copy editing, all as a freelancer. I LOVED it! Most weeks, I earned over twice what I could have made working in an office. Ivery easily met my financial obligations and raised my two boys on what I was making. Sadly, that work slowly began disappearing as the companies I contracted with began sending their work overseas where it was cheaper for them. Then, I found legal transcription online. I had done some typing for a lawyer way back when, so I had some experience which led to my being sub-contracted. I enjoyed that work, too, as I was able to work as little as one hour a month or as much as 8 hours a day, 7 days a week. But, as my physical limitations began to increase, my ability to do that kind of work decreased. What is it that you're doing? I'm curious because so much freelance work is being sent overseas these days. What is left? I'm about to start my own business of selling rooted cuttings of various trees and bushes to plant nurseries. Most of them don't want to deal with rooting anything on their own, just selling them, so that's where I come in. It's so very easy to do and, with the help of my son, I should be able to have quite a nice "extra" income. Again, congratulations! I hope you're enjoying the work.
