Need to get code from Remote Keyless Entry Pad on Door of 2006 Ford Explorer

I purchased a used 2006 Ford Explorer last July and was given the unlock code for the driver's side door remote keyless entry pad. I placed the code in and it worked....never wrote it down. Now the dealership wants $45 to read the code again. Is there any way I can reset this code back to "0000"? Possibly by disconnecting wires/plugs or jumpering out connectors? Please advise...Owner's Manual says nothing about what to do if you forgot your code. Thanks, Bill

I have no idea how to get the code any other way than to go to the dealer. When I bought mine the used car daelership didn't know what the code was. They told me I could take it to the dealer and let them hook it up to the machine. I didn't do it yet, I just use my key pad and go on with life. My husband has a Mercury Mariner and he uses his all the time. If you hear of a way to reset the code, I hope you'll let me know. My Explorer is a 2001, but it's all leather and only had 60,000 miles on it when I bought it!
