Do you celebrate Cinco De Mayo?

Certainly would expect a lot of "yeses" from the latin community, but what about everybody else? If you do, is it just another excuse to drink?

Of course its another excuse to drink. Could you imagine them renaming it 'The Fifth of May' (but it could get away as 'May Day'), it would be so obvious, right? I got lucky though, I needed a reason to drink because the same day I dropped my kids off to grandma for a week and I haven't that much time to myself since I can remember. Sometimes things just work out perfectly. I have to say though, this Cinco day didn't seem as festive as others--I know because I live right next to a college campus and seen what it can get like ("Its my birthday, whoohooo!!") but last night I was actually in Philly and it just seemed like your average bar day to me, had some good chats though.

I don't know if the "celebrating" dims a little the further you get from Mexico, but I'm sure it gets stronger around college campuses!

I have heard of this before but I really do not know what it is in full. I have never celebrated it, that I know of.

What is wrong with drinking. We are celebrating a holiday in Mexico. We should enjoy it rather than just think something over rationally. We have to try ourselves to be crazy once in a while. No harm gonna be done.

I'm Puerto Rican, so no I don't celebrate this holiday unless someone is like you said...looking for an excuse to drink then I'll go. Haha... I do the same on St. Patrick's day.
