How Did You Pass Biochemistry?

I need some tips on passing biochemistry! I seem to be having a lot of trouble memorizing the amino acids and getting the correct charges and structure of them at different pHs. How did you do these things? It just seems crazy to me. If I didn't have to memorize it, it would still be hard enough to work with the amino acids. Does anyone know of a good website tutorial or something? Our book is awful. I desperately need to pass this class!

Biochemistry is not a hard subject, I guess math is even harder to analyze than those from biochem. Some studies have shown that memorization is the least method of learning, and it is not advisable to just memorize terms, values and other complex formulas, what you need to do is analyze them well. Analysis is the best way to learn and keep all those information in your head. Make use of your analytical thinking, and develop ways of learning those terms. Yes we cannot really avoid to memorize, but try to combine memorization and analysis, make them work hand in hand and you will see the effect. Analysis can help you retain more terms and help you understand why that kind of amino acid is formed and why its has that ph reading. With that, you will be able to distinguish the difference and similarities of all amino acids and other terms in biochemistry. try to develop a way to study and learn all the knowledge about biochemistry, if you need to write and rewrite so that you can memorize then do it. Research those terms too on the internet, sometimes books are not up to date, so it is better to find knowledge on the information superhighway. just be patient too learning biochem is not a run to the mill subject, it requires analysis and pure understanding. Hope you pass the subject and i hope I had shared some thoughts for you .

I'm not bad at math, that's not the problem. I can do the math part, I just need to understand what I'm doing. I think the problem is that a lot of the students are learning stuff in the lab, and I'm not taking the lab part of the class. I tend to stay away from the internet when studying biochemistry just because the professor is going by the book. But I will try to find other sources as well and just make sure it seems to match with the book. Thanks! I'm hoping I pass too.

you should remeber the knowlege of biochemistry. you must study all the formula about that. and understand it. and never take a mistake of them. you should know every word of your textbook.

Ok, that doesn't really help me. The class doesn't last long enough to know every word of the textbook. I'm asking for what parts are actually important and how you memorize it.
