I have found, in china, that people often bring some drinks on their own when eating in a restaurant. So is it acceptable in western restaurant for customers to bring some drinks like wine?

No, but that's a great new idea! BYOD! Of course, some might abuse the privilege but I would love to see a sushi bar that would allow you to bring your own sake! Hey, it beats paying $5 a shot when you can a whole bottle for $8!

It depends with the restaurant, what kind of restaurant you're going to. In our place there are restaurants that wont accept drinks from the outside. But there are others that okay with it, but only few.

Usually in England, you can't eat or drink anything not bought on the premises. A couple of days ago a kid was in Subway and was asked not to drink the drink he had with him, but he could eat what he had bought from there. I just thought it was odd. But if you can manage to sit somewhere where no-one can see it's fine, cos what they don't know won't hurt them. I took my own drink to a pub, but sat out of site of the bar.

It is not allowed to bring own drinks for eating in restaurants. While lowering prices for dishes, the restaurants are imposing unreasonably high prices for drinks. It become the last means for high profit. I will not bring drinks there unless agreed upon in advance, usually for booking of several tables on special occasions, say birthday parties.

When I travel last year at Singapore, we bring our drinks (mineral water)at a food court but we are not allow to drink it there. We can only drink it after we leave the premises. So the best thing to do is to order drinks at their food court. While here in my own country (Philippines), we can bring our own drinks in a fast food or food court. But fine dine-in restaurant, it is usually not allow but if ever it is allowed, the one bringing it should pay a corkage fee.
