How has your life changed in the last year?

Have you gotten married, divorced or engaged? Did you start a new job or just lose your job? Did you move, buy a new house, sell a house, rent a new apartment? Have you lost weight, gained weight or stayed the same. Are you happer than you were a year ago? If yes, what made you happy. With the economy the way it is this summer compared to last summer is quite a contrast. Last summer we went on vacation. At the end of last summer we bought a new house. That means that this summer we cannot afford a vacation....that's the kind of changes I am asking. How has one thing that happened changed how you will do something this year?

Hello Greenhill!!! Things go on changing in the life, some minor and some big. And now if I have to point out some of the changes that has occurred in my life this year, I have to surely point out the facility of internet in my life. This year is the first time in life that I am using the unlimited internet facility with so much comfort in my life. I am very glad about this thing. And because of this internet facility, I am here mylotting, trying to earn something, learn new things and make friends. I have to say this is one of the great achievement this year. Another change is negative. We are having serious power crisis in the nation and we don't get light most of the time. This has affected my life greatly this year. Though we have internet in the house, I have to keep waiting for the light to come on. Not only for computer, but also it has affected the daily life in many ways. Happy mylotting...

Yes Greenhill, I enjoy the internet very much. There is most of the things I need. Don't you enjoy the internet or are you already bored of it... It is sad thing of our nation that it has failed to supply the 24 hours electricity to each houses. Well the main source of electricity is the hydroelectricity in my country Nepal. But due to the lack of rainfall last year many of the the stations got damaged and stopped with less water. The available sources are no being able to cover the need of all the nation. That's why, within the certain schedule the power cut to various places is divided in various group. This is the real problem for us nowadays. But the government seem to be so inactive in solving this problem...

Sounds like you really enjoy the internet. Why doesn't your country have power all the time?

This last year brought ... it's not easy to say it and indeed I stopped writing. I became a grandmother of twins, a boy and a girl. Sadly though they arrived too soon and deprived all concerned of the joy that should have arrived with them. They lived only a few hours and instead of being able to play with them, I visit their grave and take flowers. Not quite the way it appeared it was going to be this time last year I also had two part-time jobs a year ago. Now I only have one and even that is not giving me the same amount of work as hoped. It could be worse I guess. It could pack up completely but we'll cross that bridge if/when we reach it I've been out less, spent less and been on the Lot much more though

We are all (my son, daughter-in-law and others) now convinced that there was a reason for what happened and that Someone thought it best that they became angels. Thinking like that has helped a lot and indeed I know, though I don't insist on asking but I hear them talking, that they hope too that they will have another chance again soon. I'm confident that work will pick up eventually. If not well I will just have to go on the pension a bit earlier than I wanted I guess

So sorry Mysdianait - that must be so sad to lose them like that. Hoepfully your daughter (or son?) will give you a grandchild soon so that you will have someone else to share your love with. Maybe the economy is starting to level off...hopefully things will improve with your job and you will get more hours. I am truly sorry about the babies, they are with God now. I know, that doesn't help you, but it does in a way. Those little babies are now watching over you. Best of luch with the job and again, so sorry about the little ones.

My life has changed since last year, I am jobless this year, drawing unemployment benefits, no medical insurance, and I am now a year older. All of this is going on this year in my life. I lost my job due to the economy. This is the second time this has happened to me. I lost another job due to the company closing back in 1997. I thought the one I just lost was good at least until retirement, but I didn't make now.

We are all a year old, so you are not alone in that regard! Sorry about your job. Hopefully things are going to be picking up soon. Hopefully something even better will come along for you. Keep a positive outlook and realize that you are not alone in that situation. Good wishes to you.

For me this is an overwhelming question! One year ago the people I was living with decided it was time for me to move out. I moved to an upstairs room in a church. There was a kitchen downstairs, and I had bathroom facilities but no shower. I had to go to the gym everyday to shower! then in July I moved from Louisiana to Chicago! Loved it! Was there until Novemebr 8. My son had a terrible accident and i flew down to Shreveport to stay with him in the hospital. I was there until February 24, then we moved to a nursing home for the elderly. so I presently live in a nursing home! They are very gracious and take care of us.. Our next stop will be back in Shreveport when he is ready to go to regular rehab! Then I hope when he is better, to go back to chicago. so it has been a very interesting year!

They have been very gracious indeed! I think some is because I am from so far away. I also am here to help care for my son which relieves them some. I am with him through the nights where they would have to have someone else in here as he cannot yet push the button or let someone know if he needed anything. It is temporary. We should be moving on in a couple of months,,,, I hope!

That's certain been a lot happening to you in a year. I am surprised that a nursing home would allow you to live there. They charge for patients, charge a lot, so to give someone a free home there is surprising. Hope your son gets better and you two can get back on your feet in a normal place to live.

Well, I have just received the rejection of my application of exchange student program in our university. I have planned and prepared for it since I entered universithy nearly 3 years ago. However, the qualification this year just changed all of a sudden and unfortunely, I am not fully qulified. I am very disappointed about the result. However, things change. I have to accept the fact and reconsider my future.Since I am already in senior academic year , I plan to apply for some intern work this summer vocation. The more social experience, the better for my job-hunting after graduation.

That is a shame since you worked so hard to be part of the exchange student program. Sounds like you have accepted that fact and are ready to move forward maybe a little different than you originally planned. That's why we need a back-up plan many times. Good luck as you finish your education. Educatin is very imporant.

Well, I'm still young and trying to get started in life, so things change all the time. I got married a little over a year ago, but we had our real "wedding" this past summer. Not only did I learn a lot about planning your own wedding, I also learned who in my family I can count on...and who I can't. Within the last year my husband and I moved out of our first starter apartment into a slightly nicer one, but in a couple of months when our lease is up we will either be looking for someplace cheaper or possibly for a cheap house so that we can start investing in our own home rather than throwing our money away every month. I recently quit the job that I had for the past year and a half, and got a new temporary job. At the end of June my temp status will be over, and I have yet to see if I will get a permanent offer. If not, then my job will either change again, or I will have to start thinking of more ways to make an income independently. I also hope to graduate school within the next year or so, so that should bring some interesting changes.

Wow, you have had a lot of changes. Congratulations on your marriage. You are so right about throwing money away when you pay rent. With home prices so low, if you can get a mortgage this is the perfect time for you to get a small starter home. You will build equity and down the road you then can buy a little bigger home and so on. If you plan on buying a home and getting a mortgage it would be good if you get that temp. Sounds like the last year has been good to you!

My life has changed a lot in the last year. A year ago I was living in Pennsylvania, I am now living with my daughter, temporarily, in Virginia, on my way to moving back to Texas. I just got a full doctor's release for an injury that happened a year ago on the job, I worked for the Pa. Forestry, where I just turned in my resignation last week. I was in a relationship that ended this past January, hence the move and change in jobs. And as they say, when one door closes............well I reconnected with an old friend of mine, and we confessed that there were fellings for each other years ago, we are now planning our wedding for September! And I have lost 20 lbs since January, staying in shape for my job, I'm a wildland firefighter, my fiance is a structural firefighter.Am I happier than a year ago, by far, I am much happier, I'm engaged, I'm moving back to my home state, and I can now get back to work, doing what I love.

That is all great news for you, good changes. Sometimes life has many surprises, twists and turns and you have turned those twists into something good. Best wishes to you both. You have interesting jobs and dangerous also. Losing 20 pounds is wonderful. That always makes someone feel good about themselves when they lose weight. Best wishes to you and good luck in the future.

My life has changed completely. I thought I would be able to make some money by farming but I got sacked unceremoniously and I am not trying to pick up the pieces. I like computers and the internet. I make websites but I need to have customers. Cheers!!

It seemed my husband and I had FINALLY gotten the whole financial thing figured out last year...we aren't rich, but things were being paid on time. But this year has already brought about a lot of changes, all resulting from the economy and now my husband is constantly being laid off...work one week, laid off the next, and so on. We seem to have treaded back in time again, paycheck to paycheck, with no room for error on our parts. So, vacation won't happen for us this year, cards instead of gifts to everyone, and well, an overall sticking to a strict budget. Maybe this a reality check for us.

I hear what you are saying. I think we are all learning how to do things with lots less money. We don't buy anything unless we can pay cash. I have always been like that. I don't charge hundreds of dollars on clothes or shoes like lots of women do. I am retired, so I dont' need a ton of fancy stuff...shorts and t-shirts. We don't eat out, or go to the movies, but we are happy. We have a comfortable, not fancy, life. Hopefully things will improve for you and your husband. Best wishes.

Hello Greenhill, My Life has changed in so many ways in the last year, my son has tured two years old, I have been married for one more year, I also found many new sites online that I finally decided to try out, and My Lot is one of them, I never new such site like this exsist, I have been on a site like this for years, but they never paid you anything to be apart of their site, so I thought that My Lot was susper cool for doing the opposite and pay their members.
