First of all, religion has nothing to do with terrorism. I mean there are a lot of religious people in this world that doesn't engage with violence. In fact, most of the well-known religions encourage people to portray peace. The bottomline is, some people do good things while other don't! These low-minded terrorists are sometimes using the name of religion in order to get what they wanted, which I think is demoralizing the true essence of religion.

i agree with you. Religion has no relation with terrorism. We can't blame the terriosts because of their religion, but their behavior. I don't understand why they choose the violence as their struggle for some unfair reality, but there must be some reasons. We all dream of a peaceful world, hope that our dream will come ture one day~

I find some offense at your tone here. First off, I do not think you should label terrorists as "having no feelings at all". On the contrary, it is their feelings that drive them to commit the acts that they do. It is not religious indoctrination that is what drives them to commit acts of terrorism. The anti-religious (i.e. Sam Harris) would like you to believe that if there were no religion there would be no terrorism. But this is completely false. Over 1/4 of all terrorist actions from 1980 to 2003 were committed by anti-religious individuals (see the studies of Robert Pape, especially his book "Dying to Win"). The terrorist actions of Marxist/Lenninist countries were tied to materialistic principles of natural selection and survival of the fittest. It is not religion. It is differentiation of the "self" and the "other". They believe so strongly in a transcendent significance that they are willing to lay down their lives for the cause. This does not mean that their actions are justified, but we must understand that it IS a logical process for them.

Most terrorists I have heard or read about are from the extremely neglected classes of society…disillusioned, jobless, poor youth who dream of glory and name in martyrdom for their religion and also see in terrorism a kind of outlet for their pent-up anger and frustration. Its also a misplaced sense of jealousy and betrayal against other nations or other levels of society which have achieved the same goals which these terrorists or their brethren have been denied. Freedom, democracy, education, infrastructure, jobs, money, bright future…most of these things elude the homelands or hometowns of these so-called terrorists…having nothing better to do, they spend their attending religious meetings and schools where hatred against other religions are taught regularly and affluent lifestyle is furnished as further proof of betrayal…hence these hapless youth are exhorted to take up arms in the name of religion and kill all those people who have betrayed and denied and deceived and deprived them. The educated people you are referring to are few and at top and they are usually there to brainwash people by their erudition and supposedly superior understanding.

Well most of these so called "terrorists" are Muslims, and in their faith they believe in a religious war called Jihad. Extremists have taken advantage of this to recruit people to be Muslims and they teach them that by killing people who are not muslims they will go to heaven quicker than people who dont. But this goes against what is laid our for them in the qur'an. I believe that the people who do this cannot reeally claim to be Muslims as if they were they wouldnt go around killing people.

From what I read kids as young as 9 are sent to terror camps and trained to think and act like an evil emotionless being they are brainwashed into the supreme sacrifice for the cause which is evil. Since the time before Christ people have been dying for thier "cause" christians, martyrs burned at the stake for not denouncing thier Religion so the terrorist applied it to thier religion "Evil".

They are misled, that's what I believe. They are at a desperate situation and quite disturbed thinking and the only solace they can find it through the evil recruiters whom have convinced them so many things and promised them this and that.

I dont think you can understand fully the mind of a terrorist but I dont think it matters much as what they do is unforgivable. For them, they believe that dying for what they believe in is what's important and that they want to send a message to the world that what they believe in is what is right. I think highly intelligent people are usually more prone to these type of things as they are obsessed with their own thinking and thus believe that they are superior than others and usually they will create their own philosophy which usually will lead them to things that are enot correct.
