What would you take if you were told by government officials that your house was being taken over and that you had to leave immediately.. That is besides everyone in the house..what object would you take with you? Would you leave?

My laptop is automatically connected to me, I didn't even think of it when I was writing my response but it would definitely be one of the first things I would take with me.

I would remind them that Amendment IV of the Constitution makes it against the law to seize my property and ask them to kindly take their butts elsewhere. I would insist on calling my congressman. I'm not going anywhere! This is my house.

I totally agree with you! I would do the same thing and tell them I would not be going anywhere but if they didn't leave my property I would have them considered as tresspassing and arrested!!!!

Good for you and congratulations on knowing the 4th ammendment of the constitutions. Some people would be intimidated by notices of evacuation by reason of govenmental decree..good thing that you have your ducks all lined up;)+

I haven't had my home bought and told to get out, but I have been evacuated by fires... We have a metal fire box that we keep all of our important papers in, packed cases in case of an emergency and supplies that we would need while out of our home...kennels for our cats etc... Only once have I grabbed odd items and taken them with me as the fire was that close and that much a threat..I always pray the lord will look over ny home and keep it safe...but more inportant..is know my family and pets are safe...they are irreplaceable..unlike the things we collect...

That isn't very likely to happen where I live now but I grew up in a volcanic area and we always had to be ready to evacuate at a moments notice. My parents kept all important papers in a briefcase so it would be easy to grab it on our way out and we had a suitcase with basic things like toothbrushes, towels, a change of clothes and a few other things. Fortunately we never had to use it but we always had to be prepared. I have a box that I keep all important papers in and keep it in an area where it would be easy to grab it on my way out. I never thought about it until I read your question but I think the reason behind that box is my parents old briefcase. I think unconciously I am prepared to evacuate. I'm lucky to have a big family and we wouldn't end up on the street if anything happened to our house.

Our most important things would probably be the computer - as a previous poster already stated, it has most of our memories on it. I'd grab the box that has our passports, as well as our photo album if possible.

You should keep a backup of any important files on your computer. It's much more likely that your hard disk crashes than that your house will burn down or be taken over by the government

I would try to grab all of my important papers and phone numbers including my lawyer so I can sue the heck out of the government for stealing my house.
