Crafts are popular as a hobby or to give as gifts, or even to sell. I love to knit and crochet. I make hats, scarves, and dish clothes to give as gifts. I also enjoy sketching, and making silk-flower arrangements. Some I keep, some I sell, and many I give as gifts. Once for Christmas, I made each of my daughters a rag doll from scratch, including sewing wardrobes for them. They are grown, but still have their hand-made dolls. Now, I am getting into scrapbooking. I love learning. What arts and crafts do you enjoy? What do you usually do with your finished projects?

I used to make jewelry, but find that after working in a kitchen all day my hands hurt too much anymore so now I make jar gifts (cookies in a jar, soup in a jar, etc.) I want to get into candle making and also take up candymaking again (yes, it is a craft if you've ever seen what goes into it, especially with chocolate) What I make I usually give as a gift or I keep depending on what it is

I've been a candle maker , and had a candle business. I oil paint , crochet, and knit . Since living by the beach I collect seaglass , seashells, colorful tile and other interesting things that wash up on the beach and figure things I can make with them. I usually just make things to give as gifts. There are always birthdays coming up , and I have more time then money so it workds out well for me . We do have a hotel close to our home and the owner is a good friend . He wants me to start making things to sell in a gift shop in the hotel . I think I'm going to try to get some girlfriends to help me and maybe any money we can make on our crafts we can donate part of it to start an animal shelter in our area .

The gift jars are wonderful to receive as gifts. My sister does that at Christmas time. I used to make all kinds of candy around the holidays, and you are right! It is an art, but a very rewarding one. I'm sorry your hands are too sore to make jewelry any more. Perhaps one day soon, they will heal. Thank you for adding your crafts : ) Karen

Beach, what wonderful things you do! I love water and beaches and the things one finds that wash ashore. One thing I am noticing as I read through the responses is that most of us who love one form of crafting also love several others. And that we love to give away or sell our work...share it with others. Happy crafting! Do you have pictures of your work posted any where?

I quilt, I haven't done much in the last couple of years, there has been a lot of emotional upheaval and I can't think creatively when I'm upset. But i hope to get back to it soon.

I hope the upheaval is settling for you, Pat. That can be a bane to my creativity, too. I am trying to find ways where creating can actually over-rule the upheaval, though. Quilting is a very old and very beautiful form of art. I admire the outcomes, and hope you'll soon be able to pursue it again. Karen

I see you love variety, too. And until I just read it, I had completely forgotten how much macramee I used to do...mainly making "plant hangers." I learned how from my father-in-law, who also loved wood working. Thank you for responding. Karen

Scrapping and stamping are two of my favorites...but I also sew and paint on glass...Stamping is my all time favorite.....I love making cards. I sell tons of them at craft fairs as I make them simple so I don't have to charge alot for them.

My youngest daughter makes gorgeous cards stamping, too. All of my daughters and myself all love various crafts, in fact. I find them a big lift to the spirit!

I have to admit, I am a craft junkie. I love to make things with my hands, and I have dabbled in ceramics, painting, carpentry, and decopague. I'm very fond of crochet and stitching, and I like experimenting with new patterns and stitches. I wish I could say I was good at flower arrangements, but I am NOT! Maybe I should read a book on arranging. At least then if I can't arrange flowers well, I can appreciate those that do!

This helps proove to me my theory that those of us who love crafts do not stick to just one, but are versatile and try or do many. : )) Thank you for responding. Karen
