Do you Collect recipes and articles from old magazines?

I like to collect recipes and any other interesting articles from Magazines before giving it away. I get the collected pages bound together if it is a good reference and an interesting read . My brothers too occasionally browse through these volumes and find the articles very interesting. I have collected articles from old 'Woman and Home', Femina, Illustrated Weekly and such other magazines of the 60's and the 70's which my mother used to buy and now they look so elegant, a real collectors item...

Hey there! I don't cut out the magazine articles that I find interesting. Instead, I save that copy of the magazine. My mom on the other hand, cuts out recipes she finds in newspapers and magazines and then puts them all in a folder somewhere. She has a whole bunch of these folders packed with recipes she's collected over the years.

i have folders of recipes too, but all of them are tried already. i cooked only those that are economical and quick. time and money really matters with regards to cooking.

It is just wonderful that you have continued with this. I was into all these quite a few years back. Food is an all time favourite of mine and no good women’s magazine is complete without a good food section. So I too used to browse thru these food sections and keep the cuttings for future use. However, when my time came to cook for the family, I found most of the articles not helpful at all. For one India has a huge variety of food so if I wanted to cook something from other regions, it never tasted authentic enough. Secondly, all the ingredients are not readily available everywhere…for example, I love curry leaves and the wonderful flavour they add to south Indian food but most in my family don’t like it. They will have it once but not regularly…but if I have to use it once, I’ll still have to buy a whole bunch from the market and the remaining leaves will wilt in the fridge. Similarly for kasuri methi, I love the flavour of this in north Indian food but since we Bengalis eat rice, we are more into fish curry and daal. So dry curries having kasuri methi in them is not very ideal for rice…so my packet of kasuri methi went waste. It went on like this till I understood that it was not possible to make all those items they give in the mags…so ultimately I stopped collecting them.

I have been collecting recipes from magazines since my schooldays. These pictures were so colorful and I enjoy looking at the dishes, thinking that I would refer to them one day and learn some cooking. Well, I found out that I don't like cooking at all. But I love food, so I'm still collecting these recipes for my eyes to feast on.

used collect pics of Hindi film stars like Madhubala, Meena Kumari, Waheeda rehman, Vyjayantimala earlier, but now I hardly find any film actress worth the trouble. So it is just the recipes, interiors, plants, and articles on all of these that i tend to collect..I might collect an article or cartoon if I find it really good. I have a folder and recipe box full of recipes that I have cut out of magazines before throwing it out. Some magazines have some really good stuff.

I personally don't collect recipes but I know that my mom has old issues of some cooking books and magazines of articles that she has clipped out that has been of interest. She also has a book of handwritten recipes that has been passed down from my grandmother who had it passed down from a few generations back. Family recipes she has written down in that book and a few other clipped recipes from magazines or the internet as well. I do however look through them from time to time if I want to find something good to make.

I'm fond of cutting out useful articles from magazines and newspaper on brief biographies, photography, nutrition, useful tips for daily life. I don't keep them but I scan them into my computer archive which I can easily refer if I need to. Sometimes we have too much magazines that they piled up and take up space. So in my opinion I only keep the soft copies.

I tend to search for such articles and show them to my mother. If she thinks its a good recipie then she will keep it. We also watch cooking show on TV and write down interesting recipies.

For me i use to collect recipes from magazines, because it is fun to collect and read the recipe i collected, my collection of recipes that collect was place in a carton to prevent in braking and eaten by the small animals, since i was a child i use to collect it, i cut out all the recipes that i see in the news paper and old books rather in the food it self,i wash first the can or plastic that the food in it then i try to cut the recipes from it, to prevent the odor in it, and to preserve my cut out from damage.

I usually try to recycle as much as possible from an old magazine. I like to cut out nice photographs and interesting articles to put it all together in a book, or to collage it on the wall. You can do really creative stuff with old magazines, it's a lot of fun!

I do like to collect recipes I find in magazines and newspapers. I also write down ones that I find online. I have found some really good recipes that would be great for me to make whenever I get married and have a family. I love to cook and I like having different ideas on things to cook and how to cook things differently.

I am not that intrested in that collection. But my sister does that. She is a great cook and one of her hobbuies include collecting recipes and articles rom old as well as new magazines. She collects them and makes them into a book for future reference. Whenever i am in need of any recipe she of course lets me go through her books. An interesting hobbie i think but a difficult one as well because she has to collect a lot of them to get it into a book.

my husband loves to cook, from pastries to viands. that's why we collect recipes from different sources. i even suggested to him that he can have his own little resto for a start. he refused to have one. he's contented of sharing his skills to family and friends. he is the one who prepared for our kid's snacks at home.

Yes, i do and guess what? it also pays off...because when i tried making a lasagna- i found a great recipe that i've cut out from a magazine...and i tell you, my friends said, i can sell my lasagna for a good prize..lol! i also collect some articles that were of great importance - like its been part of history, arts, culture and lot more.. the only difference we have is that - some of it..i've lost, becuase they're still in loose leaves until i decided to put them in a clear plastic folder... good for you! keep it up! who knows someday your grandchildren will have their moments reading and trying your "century" recipes..hehehe!
