they were having a nightmare? I was last night, poor thing. Our dog sleeps in my daughters room. I could hear the tell tale whimper. Not wanting to get out of bed and disturb my kid, I gave a whistle and I thought she woke up. Apparently not because my hubby got up a few minutes later to comfort her.

Aww..My dog did that alot. my cat too will twitch and growl..maybe dreaming of catching a mouse or the dog can't get at the rabbit in the rabbit hole. That was good of your husband because. My husband just basically leaves them alone.. I will do as you did and maybe call for them or whistle..

My dogs will make noises at night when they are in deep sleep. They will also snore and that is hilarious. I thought I snored loud lol. I have found myself snoring and woke myself up, and the dogs would be looking at me funny lol. I guess they didn't think I snored too lol. My dogs will also wake me up if they have to potty, as they will whimper to let me know they need to go, but that is very seldom. When I put them to bed, they stay there until morning. They sleep in crates in my bedroom. I won't let them sleep in my bed. Have a very good day, and hapy mylotting.

I have seen dogs dreaming before, but I don't recall ever hearing one have a nightmare before. I think mostly the dogs are chasing things in their sleep when I hear them.
