Some of you know that I had an emergency appendectomy last Saturday and I'm still quite sore and a bit miserable, especially since it's very difficult to take care of myself by myself. The house looks awful, it needs vacuuming, etc. Now for the good news! Yesterday a man delivered a beautiful flower arrangement from my ex-in laws. They are all live plants I can put in my yard with one beautiful fern that will look great hanging from a basket in my window. Today, Ron (my neighbor to the west) had his brother come over and mow both our yards. He called me yesterday and told me now to worry about the cost, it was his treat. He's also the one who looked after my dogs for 4 days and made sure Gus got his medicine. He collected my mail and papers, too! My neighbors to the east watered my garden while I was gone so all my hard work wouldn't be wasted. They fed my stray cats, too! The lady across the street came over this morning as I was reading my paper and asked if there was anything she could do for me, as she'd heard what had happened. This is unprecedented if you listen to the evening news or even listen to people talking about how bad the world is today. It's always nice to get a jolt of realism among all the grumbles!

Things like this don't make the news because they don't sell product. People don't tune in to get smiles, they tune in to see how bad things have gotten. "if it bleeds, it leads" is the motto. I think every newscast should be required to have 5 minutes of good news throughout the broadcast.

I see that this is from 4 months ago, but I have to respond. That is amazing! You should feel really blessed! And I really hope you are feeling better by now! Isn't it nice to have people show you that they care? I try to help as much as I can, but seems like noone is ever here for me. I have cancer and have to have another surgery on the 10th. Well, now it won't be because I have noone to help with my kids. I even spent my money and drove 1000 miles round trip to get my sister and she stayed 6 days and took off on me. (And no, my kids arne't THAT bad! ha ha). So, I have to reschedule/post-pone till ??? I'm glad you found some light in this dark world we live in now-a-days :-)

How old are your children? Talk to your doctor about it, he might know of a service that will help you! If you were close to me I would help you myself. I live in Springfield, Ohio. The good that you do will come back to you when you least expect it. Don't be discouraged!
