When I was young, my Dad called every Friday night "party night." We'd have ice-cream and toppings or popcorn and watch the then popular Westerns together on TV. We did the same thing when my own children were young...had popcorn or some other special snacks, and rent movies to watch. It was a ritual passed down through the years, as my daughters and their own families now do this. Did you and your family do something speacial together each week when you were growing up? If you have your own family now, do you have special weekly rituals? No family? Do you and friends do something special on the weekends?Thank you for responses. Karen

Yes Karen we do. I try to have some sort of family get to gather each week to catch up on what is going on in everyones lives and what is coming up the following week that we may need to get prepared for. We usually on Friday or saturday evening get the board games out and have a marathon. Not many families play board games anymore because of all the video packages out there now a days. My grandaughter and her friends really enjoy playing Unoor Yahtzee and some other games I have had ever since my children were young because we did the same thing when they were growing up. We also watch movies together, buit you don't seem to get as good an interaction as you do playing games. Anyone else out there do this? flutterby

This is a beautiful tradition, one that to this day my kids and grandkids love when they visit...board games. I still give them as gifts, too, and a friend and I play Scrabble on a regular basis. They aren't quite a lost art : ) Karen

Yes, Our family has the similar rituals as yours. While we do not like renting movies, we like to watch the dramas. And my mom will prepare a delicious meal for us. We will enjoy this good time together at the same time taste food. I like that moment, with all relaxing and happyness. While now I live far away from my mom,and I got married, while I still enjoy this moment together with my husband and my brother.

Your rituals sound wonderful. That is one of the beauties of family traditions. We can still enjoy them as adults, and pass them on to others : )) Thank you for responding. Karen

we try to eat together every night tho sometimes that is hard. I bought a hot tub about 2 months ago and that has brought us together. We usually all end up in there around 8pm and end up relaxing and talking about the day. I never thought I would be so glad to have bought one but it is a blessing to us.

I often have movie night, ordering in night, eat a restaurant, board game night, bedtimes stories night. I have all of them except I do not have them on a set schedule. I do these activities with them when we have the time. I enjoy doing this activities with my children as it also create lovely memories and you can clearly see that they are having so much fun doing family things together.
