Hey friends, just want to know if you've ever used a police scanner before. It's a device where you can plug it up inside of your home and listen then you can find out what all is going on in your town. We used to use one when we would go over to my mom in laws house. She would be able to know everything that was going on all over town by just staying tuned into her scanner. I don't hear people talk about them much these days and I was wondering if they are still around. Has anybody heard of this before of have you had much experience with using one. It kind of remind you of the old cb radios that truckers use. Let's talk about it.

I really want to try one. Its just interesting to hear what they say about you or what they about you. If there was a chance for me to have one, I would definitely keep one in my in-laws room or my parents room as well.

I personally have not used one and i know in my town the hand held ones are illegal to have. but my friend has on in her house and she has it on all the time. I guess they are good for when a friend gets in trouble you will be the first one to know...but other than that its just a gossip starter in my town.

I used to have one when my ex-husband was on the sheriff's dept where we used to live. I didn't have much use for one after joining a volunteer fire department since we had portable radios and pagers. And they were on 24/7/365, since we were on call year around. I have also worked for the forestry the past 2 years, and had a portable radio. When it's part of your daily life for so long, you really don't want a scanner around lol. And you look forward to days that you aren't on call, so you can turn the radio and pagers off. My dad has had a scanner for as long as I can remember, in fact he bought me my first one lol. He still has a scanner to this day.
