People need to learn to take no for an answer...

Ok. So, I have 4 puppies that I am willing to give away, as long as they go to good homes. They are Pit Bulls, so I have to be very careful of who I let have them. Anyway, this girl e-mailed me last night and said that she wanted one. But here is the glitch. She wanted me to deliver the puppy to her, an hour and a half away from my house, without paying me any gas money. Then, she told me that she and her husband are both unemployed, have 3 kids with another on the way, and have just gotten a puppy. Well, her husband got the puppy and she wanted one, too. She actually had the nerve to start cussing me when I told her no because I didn't see how they planned on taking care of it. Not only does it cost a lot to feed them, but the vet bills are enormous. She told me (in not nice terms) that it was none of my business how they would take care of this puppy. Well, yes it is. These puppies are mine until I find them their Forever Homes. If I wanted them to end up in a shelter, I would take them there myself. Can you believe the nerve of some people? I just received two new messages from her in the time it has taken me to type this discussion. I wish I could block her. My son is sitting right beside me, and doesn't need to read what she is saying. She needs to take it as a NO already!!!

I don't see how she thinks she can take care of a puppu, when she can't even provide for her own family. She probably doesn't realize how much money it takes to raise dogs. They have to be vaccinated for diseases, groomed, buy dog food and pet beds, and other things. Since, they are unemployed, there is no way, she can even take care of any animals. That if just be so irresponsible. I wouldn't let her have any either, as I feel that the puppy wouldn't be taken care of like it should, and to me that would be on my conscience. At least you told her no, now, it is just getting her to take no for an answer. You have done the right thing though. I wish you lots of luck in finding them homes, and happy mylotting.

Believe me, I for one know how expensive a dog is. I have 4 adult Pits, and am down to 4 little ones. I buy 100 pounds of food a week. They eat more than I do. And I can't even begin to add up my vet bills. My vet offers something like a wellness plan. I pay $200 in advance, and it covers a year of care....their yearly shots and all of their checkups and routine tests such as heartworms. If they need surgery for anything, I get a massive discount on that and also on any meds they may need for anything. I have that on all 4 of the big dogs. That alone is $800 a year. Sometimes I think I am crazy. Luckily, I am a groomer, so I don't have to pay someone to give them baths, clean their ears, or clip their nails. And they sleep at the foot of my bed, so they don't have beds of their own. (I had to buy a very big bed for all of us, because I could not make them get down at night. LOL)

I really don't get why people would even want an animal if they can't take care of themselves and thier kids. It's just idiotic. Plus, if someone wants something why can't they drive or at least meet you half way. I'd try craigslist.org if you haven't already. They have a good rehoming section for animals. I don't know your state laws, but in some areas for pit bulls you need special insurance. So, if that's the case make sure they are aware.

Thank you for your comment. Craig's List is where they are posted. I know that in the county I live in, we still don't need insurance as of yet. I am not sure about where this girl lives. I don't think I will ever put anything else on CL. LOL. This crazy woman won't leave me alone. At least if I had listed them in the newspaper, she would have my phone number, which I could block. Instead, I am now crossing my fingers that my children will not read her messages.

Good grief, she talks to you the way she did and still has the gall to think she may get one of your dogs. People that behave that way toward someone they don't even know probably treat the kids and pets worse. I feel for the puppy they do have. Pets can grow into a reflection of their owner, this broad does not need a Pit. Sounds like she needs to be spayed herself.
