Can India be able to reain the world cup after a dismal show in the first match?

India performed very poorly in the first match against New Zealand. The lack of form of Gambhir and Dhoni can give troubles for India in the forthcoming matches. Even Sehwag's form is a cause of worry. India's most successful bowler in the IPL RP Singh performed very poorly. Even Zaheer Khan is not fully fit. All these make everybody in doubt whether India will be able to retain the world cup.

there are already whispers in australia that selectors have blundered by dropping symmo for ashes??will the aussies can taste the victory of ashes without symmo?

One man doesn't make a team. I think Oz can do without him and still take the ashes. If you look back to the recent series between SA and Oz where Symmo was excluded, SA beat Oz in their back yard and then Oz reversed this in SA's back yard. I think Oz is in a rebuilding phase whereby they are blooding new talent. They, like SA, have great depth in the pool of talent which they can select from. With or without Symmo, they are a strong side and should take the ashes.

I doubt. India has started with very bad performance. they were over confident. They should not under estimate others,

It is not the question of under estimating others. It was just a warm up match . It is just the beginning . Also sehwag and yuvraj were not in the team. What matters is how they perform in the main international matches. They will bounce back I hope with all the main players playing.

I think India has a good chance to regain it because they have good players in their side. Even though they are playing international matches and they have good opponents I think they will regain it but will face some difficulties due to selection of players. All are good players and are sorted out by there performance in the recent IPL.

well sehwag did not play in the warm up match so we do not know how he feels at the moment about his batting. it does not take long for sehwag to get back into form we might just seeh im blasting the pakistan bowling attack today in the second warm up match for india.gambhir is not in abd form he was just a little inconsistent in the ipl but i think he is doing well.and when he opens with sehwag hopefully all will go as planned. zaheer is supposed to get fit in time and ishant sharma bowled well and so did pathan. i think we have the all rounders to pull it off.

it can easily observed that india is over confidant at the time. no doubt it is the favorite team to win the cup but my experience says that never a cup goes to the most fav team.however nothing can be predictable but not a vote for india this time. last year inida luckily won it was not fav this time see there 'll be some one who is being neglected find out.....?

I think South Africa are looking very strong. Yesterday's warm up game against Pakistan showed this (although Pakistan did look very ordinary). SA's batting line up is formidable with guys like Smith, Gibbs, De Velliers, Duminy, Kallis, Boucher and Morkel all able to score runs. The bowling attack is awsome with Steyn and Parnell dealing with the top order, Botha, Kallis and an der Merwe containing the middle order and the Steyn / Parnell combination once again dealing with the tail enders. Graham Smith has a lot of options for variation in his bowling attack in that he can turn to Duminy, Morkel and even himself if he has to. It will be difficult for teams to beat South Africa.

I would not read too much into India's performance in yesterday's match against New Zealand. It was just a warm up match. You could see that the players were not up for it. I could point out to a warm up match during the 2007 World cup where India thrashed West Indies comprehensively only to be knocked out of the first round. Whenever the team has done well in a major tournament, it has had a shaky start. May not be true all the times, but is a good omen for sure. As far as players' performances are concerned, we needn't worry too much right now. There's another match to be played before we get underway with the competition. Also, We have the easiest group leading to the knock-out rounds. No offense meant to Bangladesh but I don't think lightening will strike twice. India's chances of retaining the title are bright enough for now but this is T20, you never know what may happen the next second. Keep believing.

A loss is a loss. But still, I think, the practice matches are their to learn for. And these failures shouldn't be taken so seriously, though it's a loss. But you should see the brighter side of the match. Though the lack of form of Gambhir and Dhoni can give some sleepless nights for India, along with the lack of form of Sehwat. To add to it even Zaheer Khan is still not fully fit and as per Mahi's statement he can't even play in the first game against Bangladesh at the weekend. Time doens't seem to be on India's side this time around. But each game is a new game and each day is a new day. Saying this only can we give ourselves some respite and say that Team India can overcome all the obstacles and get on top.

Ya. India needs to be consistent. When it comes to a T20 match against KIWIS , we lose every match. You rightly pointed out that Gambhir and Dhoni is out of form. I think this time , south africans and KIWIS will give a tough fight to INDIA. We should be very careful in handling australia too. The major blunder by DHONI is that he is coming in one down which is not his position. He should play at number 7 and play his natural game. Dhoni disturbs the tempo of the game coming one down. Dhoni should explode in his batting and should be a role model for his fellow players.
