well i'm just curios what my fellow Filipinos think about the late president Marcos... most of us just know him from books, news...like me, i was born 1981 and obviously i'm very young or not yet even born during his regime so i'm not aware of the situation of the country then. most news that i hear about him are saying that he is a corrupt, abusive of his power, dictator and so on... but, there are people around me now saying that he has been a good president and really an intelligent one...and do a lot of good things for our country... what do you think? how about you? what can you say about him?do you think him as a bad or good president? thanks! have a nice day! :-)

I think he's a good leader being a dictator. In philippine records less crime is recorded when ferdinand marcos is the president of the philippines and more structures are build. And some are not yet finished because his term had end.

Its the same with me, I was born 1981 too. I always hear that same with what you have said. But as I can see, he's a great man who have done great change in our country. After that, the next president was nothing and becoming worse up to this day.

I literally was born at the time when Marcos was on his prime. I was born when Martial law was implemented. I did not see what worse he has done durint those times. But I heard many atrocities that did happen especially at my hoe province who was known at that time as strong opponent of the Marcoses during their time. As a result of that development for my Province were not given on time and our province did suffer from the administration back then. We were considered a third class city back then. After the Marcos regime fell our city slowly rose to where she deserves to be. Our City did rose from a third class city to a first class city and till this day it is booming and I should say growing city. I am more happy to see it this way and during the Marcos times we did not experience that.

Was he a bad president? Well, it's a relative question because it depends on your personal experience (i.e., if you were mature enough during his term to realize what good or bad he has contributed to our nation). As they say, only history can judge FM's presidency. But I'd say, he wasn't as bad as many would think. He had a good vision of what the Philippines can become. He was essentially a good person but sadly, he was surrounded by unscrupulous politicians and cronies who easily influenced his many unpopular decisions. Foremost, his wife Imelda has been instrumental not only to his early success as a politician but also to his eventual downfall.

Maybe he was not good because of the corruptions, but he was the one who had constructed the different specialty hospitals in the country which helps not only our countrymen but also the rest of Asia.

I was only a little girl when he was president, but I've heard a lot of stories about him and what he has done to our country. There may have been corruption - and this ALWAYS happens in every president's term - but our country was in a far BETTER situation during the time of Former President Ferdinand Marcos - low crime rates, not much informal settlers, clean roads, good reputation, tourism was good, etc. Despite how a lot of politicians despise him, people with no power whatsoever speak of good words about the late Mr. Marcos.

yes its true, i agree... corruption is always there...and i think corruption is more popular now! and when it comes to what they have done for our country...Mr. Marcos i think done better..if not the best... and i believe our country that time is in better position than now, we're even more progressive than other nations here in Asia..

That's true. We were ahead in a lot of aspects. It's the exact opposite now.

based on the news and historical facts it was during his time that the debt of our country rises before that 20 years of his presidency we belong to the one of the progressive country but after the Marcoses what happen to us we are one of the poorest country in Asia. Though some of the credits goes to him because of the projects like roads, bridges and hospital but how about the corruption he made to those project so therefore I will just conclude he was a bad president.
