read the materials over and over again...never attempt to memorize. go for familiarize, man...before you study, do something you really enjoy, relax, then go for the kill.

One of the best things to do would be to limit your reading to shorter amounts of time. When you feel the reading is getting on top of you, stop for a while and try to think about what you have just read. Allowing time for reflection is really important. If you don't do this your mind will not really focus on trying to learn about the things you have read, it will just think the task is to read what is written and leave it there. Also actually writing out a few notes by hand can help your mind to focus on what you have just read. I find this tactic really helps me when I need to formulate ideas quickly. Talking about what you have read with others is another good way of cementing certain concepts into your mind, and being able to recall these ideas in the future. If you have only 18 days I would advise that you make yourself a little plan of what you need to read each day. Try to pick out the most important sections of the work, and concentrate on these areas the most. If you don't know which sections are the most important try asking another student that you trust or a tutor for advice. I hope these tips help you out. Unfortunately, there isn't really any cheats for studying, you've just got to get on with it and try your best. Hope these give you some help.

Hello EmpressM!!! You got to be cool, not to be too much worried. But sometimes worrying also work. Because without worrying, I don't seem to read. I would just be too much free and would be doing this and that if I am not worried. But getting too much worried that nothing goes in mind even if we read is not good. Its very difficult to keep on deep concentration all the time. Some times, I really concentrate nicely and sometimes I don't seem to. But most of the time, I just try to make my mind very much cool and determined before I study. I make the determination strong and keep the mind in focus to what I am studying word by word sentence by sentence. The first time to understand, and the second time is for memorizing it... Good luck...

I definitely agree that you should relax. Don't try to read 24/7, but read a little bit and then put the book down and go do something else. This gives time for what you just read to sink in and it also keeps you from getting completely overwhelmed. A mind that's overwhelmed tends to not work as well as one that's relaxed and unstressed. Also, try combining reading with something you enjoy. For example, when my finals came around I took my book to either the exercise room and read while I was on a bicycle or I went outside and took a nice long walk while I was reading. This gave me time to relax, read at a slower pace, and enjoy my study time without it feeling forced and stressful. :) Best of luck on your finals. I'm sure you'll do great!
