I have a serious problem. Every year i get at least two speeding tickets. I try to watch myself when i drive but it's inevitable i always end up getting one every few months or so. Mostly i'll be fine when i'm driving around the city i live in. But everytime i go on a long distance trip i end up getting a speeding ticket. It's horrible! I just got one a couple weeks ago and after that i told my wife she's driving everytime we leave the state so i can stop getting tickets! How often do you get a speeding ticket and do you think it's fair?

OMG...The FIRST year of having a licence back in 1979 I got 26 speeding tickets. This was back in Texas open highways not much traffic. I have gotten many speeding tickets over the years, I just can't do the 55 thingy. Now I live in California where 65 means at least 85. I can't tell you how many times I was doing 85-90 on the freeway just to get passed by a cop. Everyone here drives fast ..I LOVE IT! But I am way more careful in other states like Arizona where they have Cameras everywhere, on every freeway and all the streets in the city. Now that I think is NOT FAIR ..I feel like a caged animal in Arizona. Also I read somewhere that if you get a speeding ticket and the road conditions are clear and dry weather , very little traffic and its a freeway or highway you can actually fight it in court. you may want to check up on that;-)

I have only got one so far. I try to be very good..lol..My car does have a tendancy to increase speed on long trios before I realize it though. I am usually just following traffic though so if they get me..they have to get everyone.lol..sometimes it's not fair. They recently put cameras at the redlights here in town and I cannot tell you how much money the city is making off that.

When it comes to speeding tickets I tend to get them in streaks. I can go for two or three years without getting any tickets. I can go that long and not even get a warning. But then I must get too full of myself about it because it seems like just when I'm patting myself on the back I get a speeding ticket. Usually for driving something like seven or eight m.p.h. over the limit. Then I'm careful for a few weeks or months and then start setting the cruise at like 62 m.p.h. and end up getting a second one. I get really frustrated. It seems like setting the cruise at 56 or 57 causes me to hold everybody else up if they're behind me and can't pass me. Plus it feels like I'm going way to slow, ya know what that feels like and that causes me to speed up. I guess it's that impatience that I have that causes me to speed up and get the stupid tickets. When I have gotten more than one within a few months of each other the mere cost of paying them causes me to leave for wherever I'm going a little earlier and really watch that lead foot of mine for a few more years until it starts all over again, lol!

I actually hate saying this because it's going to jinx me and probably get me into trouble, but I haven't gotten a speeding ticket yet. Usually I'm pretty careful to stay within 5 miles of the speed limit, which most cops will overlook except in the middle of town. :) I'm hoping to never get a speeding ticket, though. We can't really afford one, either, so that would definitely not be a good thing.
