In the sentence "I never doubted not only that I would get out (of the prisoner-of-war camp), but also that I would prevail in the end and turn the experience into the defining event of my life, which, in retrospect, I would not trade.", what does the last word "trade" mean?

The word trade in this sentence was not used as a verb but was used as an idiom. It means not to give up nor dwell onto the consequences.

To trade is to give something in exchange for something else. In this case it means Not to give up
