English Language hits 1 million words!

Wow! The English Language officially reached 1 million words on 10th June. Apparently a new word comes into the language every 98 minutes. A lot of words have now come from other countries or a related to technology. I can't believe that there are a million words! I'm a native Englsh speaker and I guess I'll never learn them all.... It's a good news. Language is dynamic thing. It always improve as time goes by. I think it's hard to learn all that million words. But now we know that dictionaries must update their content. Currently i use dictionary software which contain hundred of thousand words. I hope i can find the update. Have a nice day and happy mylotting.

Thanks for posting. I think language is an amazing thing that is constantly developing. It's interesting to see the new words that are coming into use!

The millionth word was "web2.0" meaning the next generation of web products and services. If you go ont he website it shows you a list of the words running up to the millionth.
