Have you ever seen the movie Grease? It was one Broadway musical turned into a movie. John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John star in the movie version. What's popular today High School Musical. When I first saw the movie (the original one), the first thing that came to my mind was that Disney was trying to make a remake of Grease. But it didn't pass my standards. But after watching HSM, I think my comparison could have been a joke. Sure, Grease didn't have such great choreography. It was made in year nineteen sixty something or fifty something. But I appreciate it a lot more than I like HSM. What do you think?

Grease actually came out in 1978, but was set in the late 1950's. You hit the nail on the head when you say the choreography was better in HSM, and I think that's why you didn't enjoy it so much. HSM lacks the spontanaeity and innocence of Grease; it's a manufactured product of the 21st century, while Grease was a snapshot of 1950's life. The songs were great and we're still hearing them and singing them on karaoke 30 years on. Will that be true of HSM? I don't think so!

High School Musical. We love both but if we had to pick it would be HSM. Grease did have more of a story line to it and HSM tends to be more music.

My daughter is 16 and she LOVES the movie Grease. She knows the words to the songs better than I do. They seem to play the movie over and over again every summer. She is NOT a fan of High School Musical. It's interesting but, as old as that movie is, some of the things going on in that movie are still going on today. It's definitely a classic. She saw the previews to a new movie that's coming out that John Travolta was in. She was commenting on how she couldn't believe how "old" he is now. I told her we all get older every day. lol
