... walking around the campus smoking. Supporters say that this will be one more step towards eliminating secondhand smoke from the environment. What are your opinions about this?

i strongly agree on this move. and also secondhand smoke triggers the cravings for smoking so if you are planning to quit smoking you should also prevent exposure to smokes.

Yes, my husband always said that the hardest part of quitting smoking was having to go to work where everyone was smoking around him.

I am against smoking due to have had a hard time quiting myself, but I think they are taking this stop smoking thing a bit too far. I was so happy when my state made it so you can't smoke inside public places like resturants and that but I do think people have the right to do as they please with their health and bodies. If they are outside I don't see the need for them to be restricted. It's up to the person if they wish to kill themselves with those things. Yeah, maybe ask them not to stand next to the door ways so that people aren't walking through it to get in the building.

I fully support this. Smoking is banned in restaurants and malls in Vancouver, BC. Second hand smoke is even worse than smoking in some cases. I think it should be banned in all public places that are inside where there are lots of people.

Yes, it definitely isn't fair to allow people to smoke inside public places where their secondhand smoke can hurt someone. Thanks for responding.

I too agree with banning it indoors, but I don't think it causes much harm to anyone but the smoker when it is done outdoors, and should still be allowed outside

I guess I'm pretty prejudiced against smoking anywhere. I've suffered breathing problems too many places when people were blowing smoke all over me. It doesn't seem to matter where they're doing it, inside or out. I kind of think if should be my turn to be allowed to breathe normally.

I cannot support that. When I was in college smoking was my only refuge during the day (cause I couldn't drink and attend classes). I was so stressed out all the time. I thin an inside ban is fine (are there any college that allow you to smoke inside?), but outside there is enough froom that if you don't wan tto be around a smoker, you can choose not to be by a smoker. I think this is a stupid rule to implement and that the college that implement such a ban will see a drop in enrollment.

I think you'd be surprised how many people dislike smoking and would love to go to a college where it wasn't allowed at all. Thanks for sharing your opinion. P.S. I went to college for 4 years and somehow made it through without doing either one. And I had a great time in college, too.

Agreed! I know a lot of people who would like to quit. Maybe a few laws would help them.

It is good to have people supporting something for a good cause. The colleges and universities I have attended to had already banned campus smoking. That is how we are very concerned about our people's health and of the environment. How would like to breathe clean and fresh air? I like it very much.

I'm a nonsmoker but think there should be designated areas . I see what happen in some of the buildings here, people just go somewhere else .

At the school where I used to work they used to allow people to go outside by the fence to smoke. My friend had a classroom that was about 50' from the area where these people went. She couldn't ever open her windows, because the smoke would blow right into her classroom. Even outside secondhand smoke can cause damage.

I would support this very much. It won't elimate smoking but it is a step. We need to stop polluting the air and our lungs as well. Our health is the most important wealth we have.
