Do you scratch your head wondering what to talk about on Mylot? Unless you are a writer or someone like me that can't stop talking, then you may find it tough to come up with topics. I have my own technique for ideas, but you tell me yours first. :) So what do you do to come up with ideas that get responses?

Well I wouldn't say you're hopeless. Sometimes I sit down to write posts on my blogs and draw a complete blank. But I always have a plan for those times. I won't mention it quite yet though, not until after a few more people respond. I know it's easy to respond to discussions but I like to start a discussion and then go fishing. It's nice to see how many people respond while I am out having a great time.

I think I should try this strategy. I've been responding to discussions lately, totally forgetting about starting them myself. I get too lazy at times. hehehe Starting a discussion will bring us higher earnings as well, most especially when more people respond to them.

Very often,in fact more often than I care to admit. Most of my discussion come from my friends coversation and we have many conversations while we are at the office and I find them to be quite entertaining and informative and worthy of display here on mylot.A very fertile place to get ideas too was on the bus while listening to other conversations and watching their actions. At any rate I spend mor etime on the bus than anywhere else

Yeah the office can be a big source of great discussions. I quit my day job and have been working from home for about 7 years now. I have no one in my office to talk to unless I get a mirror in here and start talking to myself. :) My wife comes home with all kinds of stories from here office.

You know I spend a lot of time on the bus also and actually encounter many interesting people and situations, yet by the time I get home I don't think about any of them. I also volunteer at a social service agency where there is always drama and again, when I walk out the door I don't think about it. Maybe I need to go back over my day before I sign on to mylot.

When I am sitting here at the computer I do have a hard time coming up with topics. When I am away from the computer I usually will see or hear something that may inspire a topic to start but I rarely bring the idea back to the computer when I get a chance to get back on. A lot of times I'll see a good topic started by someone else and I'll think to myself, "why didn't I think of that?" So yes, I do a lot of head scatching!

You came pretty close to doing what I do for discussion ideas. I get them when I am away from my computer but by the time I get back to the computer I would normally have forgotten what I was thinking. That is why I carry a notepad and pencil with me most of the time. I get ideas in a flash and those same ideas disappear just as fast if I don't take the time to jot them down. I love your profile image. We only have red roses growing in our yard.

I carry around a small notepad but the problem is I am having so much trouble staying organized and I have so much other stuff in my bag I can never find the pad when I need it. Maybe when I get that part of me together I'll have many more topics to share. As far as the flower, I found it when trying to learn how to put a picture on mylot. I thought it was beautiful and was so happy to see it show up on the screen!

Hi webman, It would sound conceited if I say I have not to think to much before I start any discussion. However sometime it feels awkward that the theme I would think do not come down the level. In such case I simply avoid and do not bother much on the discussion.

There are lots of times I start a discussion right off the top of my head but before I am done typing it up I look at it again and wonder what I was thinking. I then just close the window and do something else. Other times they just flow from my brain. :)

Sometimes it's those discussion topics that just pop into your head that do the best.

I use to see some forums out there and see what are the most discussed topics, then I try to start a topic about that

I don't start any discussion unless I have question in my mind from daily living that I want to ask others about an opinion. I also like to discuss news related to new technology, intriguing news or animals...... In most cases I speak from my heart, so I don't need to come up with discussion in order to start any discussion...but also, I start only few discussions per month.

I get a lot of things that come to mind that would be from the heart but I'm a guy and sometimes my fingers just won't type what my heart is asking. :)

Hello webMann sometimes I find it hard to start a new discussion so most of the time I do respond to others' discssions.. but it is not really hard to find something to discuss here , there are a lot of members and sure you would find some poeple interested in the same topic you are thinking of , s whenever I wanna start a discussion I choose the first idea I'm thinking of and post it here .. and a lot of people respond to it .. maybe because I didn't make as much posts as you did I still find it easy !!

For me it comes and goes. I think it depends on how busy my day is going to be. On days that it's not too busy here I like to start discussion because i have more time to respond to them but on the busy days I tend to just respond to other discussions.
19 Jun 09
To be honest I dont set about trying to think up new discussions but let them come organically. Like today I read something about a movie which I thought would be a good question for myLot and then posted the discussion after I had checked no one had already done so. But then my emphasis on here is more on commenting rather than on starting discussions.

Excellent. I like to keep a pen and pad with me so when I get the ideas for a discussion I keep them. They seem to disappear if I don't write them down quickly. :)

Since I am a writer and have a high level of natural curiosity, I seldom have trouble coming up with discussion topics. I try to ask things that would be of mutual interest to many, or simply ask of my own wish to know and learn.

Curiosity is great to have. It does tend to put a lot of questions in our minds.

Hello there! Well I am someone who talks a lot throughout the day and I do not find it too difficult to answer a discussion or post something, usually I post a discussions when I want to know something which I am unaware of but I usually find myself to answer to discussions more. Someone who talks very much is someone who has always something to narrate so I do not find it difficult to write something about a question which more often are situations known to me.

Hi Med889 Questions are so important in Mylot, they are what get the responses. I have started discussions and didn't end it with a question. The response rate and the responses were much less that those I end with a question. It gets the responder thinking a little.

I have only started a few discussions so I dont have any set techniques, I just write whatever comes to mind at the time. I am curious however, do you earn more by starting topics and making replies to the replies or do you make the same as you would if you just searched for topics to reply to? Yes, I'm still new here and most of the discussions I've started are in regards to how mylot works. Once I have a better idea of what is paying me what I'll know what direction I'm going on this site. I do like the tasks though, they make me good money if I do them regularly.

I am afraid I can't answer that for you. I don't really pay attention to how I earn money here so much as just having fun. I would think I would earn more from the responses to my discussion and it's faster earning as I don't have to look up discussion to respond to. But I am only just guessing on that one. I haven't seen any tasks that I would spent time on. I prefer to just respond to discussion and start a few. If I am going to put in work on a task I would rather spend that time and energy putting content on my own blogs.

I am a very bad mind reader in this regard. I have been creating many discussions but never get many posts.... I prefer talking on those topics which are very well known and simple. But after all my luck doesn't favour always. I prefer responding to the discussions specially which are started by my friends... I try to earn from there. It is my only way out.
