Dont think in that way: Nothing is gone only people perception and usage has changed I use roll films regualarly and ofcourse digital too, but the color saturation, depth and more important is the logevity of the shots is more relaiable on a film format than the digital. Film has lived more than 150 years and still the images captured in the early 18th century, are far better than those images created on a digital ones. I agree digital is more convenient and easy to handle rather than the analog film formats. I love the reversal films which are the best.

I'm afraid that the images of 150 years ago have very seldom lasted to the present day; neary all have been lost, and the few examples you see have been stored away from the light of day in humidity controlled conditions. What is more, they ere not recorded on film as we know it today, nor using the same chemistry, so to use them as an example of the life of present-day film is not justified. As to the images being far better... what does that mean? Higher resolution? They are not; Greater detail? Not true. More accurate reproduction? Unless you have a comparison digital how could you tell? Truth is, good lenses on digital cameras, from DSLR, DSLR full frame far exceed even half-plate images of 50 years ago, and medium format digital backs are so far ahead in quality that there is no comparison. The projected life of a digital print is now over 180 years and growing: longer than the best archival life of any silver-based print or slide. The concern that our digital files might not last or that changing technology might make jpegs and tiffs or CDs and DVDs unreadable is offset by the ease with which they cane be transferred to newer media and formats as required. As to colour saturation - that is controlled by the digital photographer or in the computer in post-processing and the range is far wider than available in film: as to "depth" I don't know what you mean, so I cannot comment.

I use digital. I think film will be obselete in a few years. Its just so hard to work with. I like digital because you can always see the picture when you take it and don't have to wait to see if its a good shot or not. Its the lazy way out but its much better to me.

When we were on holidays in Northumberland, i saw a man used a very old fashion camera,my hubby told me that was the oldest camera. My hubby he still got his 18 years old filmed camera, and the photos were great. But me, i am using a digital camera, it's not the best camera but it can still capture a good photo except if its dark.

Just had a thought: you mention using "movie roll" but movies are all now shot on digital, too.

Believe it or not, my mom still using those kodak roll film camera to take pictures. Even though I encourage her to get a digital camera which is much more conveience. She just won't listen to me. That camera was with her for 15 long years. She just won't want to abandon it. Nonetheless, it is still in good condition. As long as there are film rolls for sale.

Hi. I use a digital camera for all of my photos. I get better results and like being able to see them right away. There are members of my family that only use film. We love to compare shots. :)

I use film occasionally, but it is too expensive to shoot with. And now with all the improvements of the digital SLR, I think digital is actually higher quality than film now. But sometimes just for some old time fun I will pop a roll into my old SLR.

I use a digital camera. I love the convenience that comes with it, like not having to wait for my pictures to be developed. But at the same time digital cameras have made me rather slack in the picture taking department. Probably because my husband is always taking the batteries for it! The darn thing uses AA's...the same battery size for most of his hobby stuff.

I mostly shoot digital, but I still use film every now and then. Lately I've been taking a lot of film photos, but I haven't been getting them developed! I have several rolls of exposed film sitting around! I really should get it developed soon. Problem is, it can get a bit expensive.

I am using digital camera for many years already, the first digital cam that i bought was from canon, now i have new one but it was given by my hubby a sony digicam. Its more convenient to used digicam unlike the old way film rolls, you have to buy the films and print it afterwards. But here in digicam i dont print it much i just saved it to my laptop and print only whatever i need or want. I am glad that digicam was discovered really helps me and i alwaus bring it wherever i go so i can't miss something.

Long ago I used film cameras. I took some classes in school and learned how to develop film and make prints and I really enjoyed it. But like most I do digital now. I like being able to see the picture right away and deleting it if I don't like it. Plus I can reshoot it right away. By me being able to view it instantly I can see that it is too dark or light and make the correction on the camera.
