Of all the places you've ever been, where did you view the best scenery?

I've traveled to many of our 50 states and seen so much beauty in my own country. The most awe-inspiring of all, though, has been Wyoming. Magnificent mountains, hot mineral pools, rivers...just so much beauty! I have also loved Las Vegas, both city and countryside, and The Badlands. I could only imagine as I looked at them how hard it must have been for pioneers to cross them in covered wagons. Of all the places you've been, which have struck you as the most beautiful, and why? I think the tropics must be beautiful, though I've never visited such a place yet. But I can picture the blue seas and the palms and white sand. Thank you for your input. Karen

I love the desert, I love looking at the "bones" of the land. But, in all honesty, the most beautiful place I've ever been is Crater Lake. The water is such a beautiful blue, there is no mar of damage caused by mistreatment of the land. Mind you, I love ruins, but Crater Lake was pristine. I do like ruins tho, a lot, and amoung them the Hovenweep Ruins in the Four Corners area are really amazing. Chaco Canyon are also outstanding ruins. These are just the ones in the states, I would love to go to Greece or back to Rome to see those.

well, the ruins in the 4 corners aren't that ancient, 800 yrs old, but cool none the less (of course, its hard to say they are cool when the temp is in the 90's

In my imagination, all ruins would be interesting. I suppose 800 years isn't a lot in the great scheme of things, but sure sounds old to me :)

I love traveling in my own country, the Philippines. I believe that many foreigners imagine the Philippines in constant turmoil - although we are in the depths of our minds regarding the graft and corruption in our government, our mother land really is a rich and colorful blessing that we enjoy immensely. My favorite from all the regions I've been to in the Philippines would probably be the snorkeling sites in Palawan. It's highly cheap compared to other places around the world and it's certainly not disappointing. For people who have been to our famous island beach, Boracay, Palawan is an even greater diving site. See: http://www.thingswelovetohate.com/2009/06/places-to-go-in-philippines.html for more places to go in the Philippines. Thanks for the response on my discussion :)

Snorkeling is one of the things I want to do that is on my "wish list." I feel for the people and what the govt. is putting them through, but they cannot corrupt the beauty of your land of the beautiful spirit of the average Philippine person! Thank you for sharing some of the glory of your native land :) Karen

For me Philippines because I grew up here. There's a lot of islands here some are tourist spot, some are not been discovered. I love provinces because I breath fresh air unlike from busy cities in Manila.

What a joy it would be to see such a thing from an airplane! 7000 islands! And then to explore some of them by walking the beaches and inland. Sounds so beautiful :)

I remember when I visit Bali for the first time about few years ago. It's not about the beaches where Bali is always known for but it's about a lake located in a secluded place in Bali. I went to visit a strawberry farm up on a hill. The farm is not so big. At the end of the farm, there's a lake. The view is so magnificent. It is so quiet and peaceful, once a while you'll hear birds chirping. On the far side, trees like pine trees everywhere. The weather is just right, not too cold. I even thinking of buying peace of land and build a house over there. I just hope that no property or land development found it yet or else they will turn the place for hotels or spa gateway.

All of the tourist spots are beautiful, for sure, but these little known treasures, like the lake spot you describe are even more beautiful. I hope this little piece of heaven you found remains unspoiled. Thank you for describing it. I can picture it in my mind! Karen

Hi Karen....I would have to say that I have 2 places that I think are beautiful. The first place is one that you mentioned and that is Las Vegas. I have been there several times and it is the only place I know where you can see so much of the world in one city. The pyramids of Eqypt,Brooklyn Bridge,Statute of Liberty,Eifel Tower and take a Gondola ride. It is a city of beautiful lights and I don't think you can ever get tired of going there. The other place that I think is very beautiful is The Great Smokey Mountains in Tennessee. If there were ever a place that you could feel close to God it would be there. Sometimes you feel like you can just reach out and pull a cloud in the car with you. We were fortunate to be able to see quite a few of the locals as we were traveling through also and that is the Black Bear....LOL This is just 2 of the beautiful places we have here in the USA. flutterby

I have only been to Las Vegas once, but in those 5 days, I saw so very much inside the city and also the red rocks outside city limits. I also love the Great Smokies, like being amongst something heavenly! Thank you for sharing those experiences. Karen

The most beautiful country that I have been to is New Zealand. It is a small country that is unspoilt and it has varied scenery. It is famous for its splendid walking trails. I have walked the Abel Tasman and the Queen Charlotte walkways. Wow! I took so many photos of the lovely scenery. There are beaches, forest, mountains and glaciers to see.

I've been to many countries in my past 20 years of travel, and to my memory, the countries with the best scenery are Switzerland and New Zealand. Both countries have the Alps, snow-capped mountains, lakes and forests that form a beautiful backdrop for photographs. I've been up to several mountains in Switzerland by cable-car, and the scenery one gets from up there is awesome and indescribable... so beautiful it is beyond words. I can only stare in awe at the surrounding mountain peaks, and the beautiful valleys below.

Wow, sounds like you've seen it all. What are the hot mineral pools like? Can you swim in them? I've only been to several states. Wisconsin to Florida, and Ohio. But was born in Oklahoma, that's about it. I'd say Florida, the big open ocean, sand, and just the waves nearby.

I've never been to FL, but hope to see it someday. The hot mineral springs are beautiful! The ones I saw didn't allow swimming, but the minerals make beautiful and separate designs in the water, for instance, The Morning Glory springs. Fantastic! Thank you for sharing your own experiences :) Karen

Wow where do I begin, the mountain top of Mt. Haleakela, Maui? or anyhere else in Hawaii. Or maybe the Panama canal, the mountains and glaciers in Alaska? The East coast of the United states? Rome, Paris, Germany, with the palaces and mountains, anywhere in the mediterranean, or the caribbean islands.Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon. I still have lots of places to explore, and all were beyond description, but of I had to chose it would be when we landed on the blue glaciers in Alaska.

I have travelled in Europe, Britain, Africa, parts of Asia, some of the Pacoific Islands, New Zealand...always with a camera in hand. Scotland's west coast, Lochs and islands could have been made by Kodak: they are simply glorious!! The ruggedness of the New Zealand Alps and glaciers is breathtaking; the lushness of the Philippines will always stay with me, as will some of its grand waterfalls. But to travel the Outback of Australia matches or exceeds everything I have ever seen.

Wow, you have been to so many exciting and foreign places. What an experience! And yes, a camera is a must. I would love to go to Australia someday. Both the outback and the greener mountainous area are so beautiful in the movies. :)
