What is your favorite cover song (song that was previously released by another artist) Who sings it? Who sings the origional? Is it better than the origional? What is it that you like so much about the cover? My answers: It is a two way tie between "time after time" origonally done by Cyndi Lauper and covered by Matchbox 20 and "refugee" originally done by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers in 1980 and redone in 2005 by Mellissa Etheridge Neither are better than their origonals, they are just bringing great songs from my youth to a new generation of music lovers and doing it well. Time after time because I love everything Matchbox 20 has done Refugee because Mellissa takes the song and revitalizes it, her vocals are raw and passionate and her backup sounds almost exactly like the Heartbreakers which puts her voice up and out front.

I have quite a few favourites. I quite like abingdon boys school's cover of BUCK-TICK's "Dress." I also really love all the cover songs I've heard by the Gregorian monks. The Korean band Nell also has a really cool live cover of "Zombie" that I like. The only other cover I can think of that I like right now is Kayvon Zand doing "White Wedding."

I really like Tuck and Patti's version of Time After Time. It was initially sung by Cyndi Lauper in the 80's.

That is a beloved song, I gotta say though, no matter who does that song no one has ever topped the origional for pure emotional sweetness and feeling

Mine is definitely 'Fishing in the Dark'. The cover is by Emerson Drive. The original is by The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. I definitely cant pick which one I like better because I simply love the song. It doesnt matter which version I hear, I always turn the music up and rock out a bit!
