Here in Spain, we have a saying...

I think the idea is everywhere, not just here. To the point: what we say here is: "Money won't give you happiness, but it helps." What do you think? (By the way, I do agree... sometimes!)

Well, it seems we all have, doesn't matter the language or culture, the same concepts! No need to say your saying has practically the same meaning as the one we use in Spanish.

It's a practical way of putting it, anyway, and the Spanish are a practical people. I live in Spain, although I was born in England, and I have to say Spanish people seem much happier than English people. Even the English on holiday don't seem to be really happy. Whether it's because of the good weather or because the Spanish are more family oriented than the English, I don't know, but they've made us very welcome, and they certainly know how to enjoy life. We seem to get fiestas every week!

Oh, yes! I guess we are famous because of our fiestas! And I somehow agree with you about the relation between weather and feeling happy. :-)

Well there is some practicality in that saying because it is true it can't buy you happiness but it could definitely help you in your life. Without it you would not be able to survive but with it would not make you completely happy too.
