Hope for change in the 2010 National Election

We Filipino should not pin hope for change in the 2010 national elections as none of the presidential aspirants is qualified to change the country for the benefit of the Filipino people. The presidentiables cannot provide a solution to the problems of our country. For today people and those mentioned with constitutional duties with the hands of two persons is our country's destiny.

It's sad that you tell others that they should not hope for change. Losing hope is the worst thing that you can do for your country. Change in our country, doesn't always have to start from the president. It can start from the small places in our lives and it will grow, and eventually, change for our whole country will come. Our country's destiny is not in the hands of only one person, what is one person against millions of people who believe that this country deserves better? What can this one person do, that Millions of us who, if should just stand up and fight for what is right can't overcome? If every single one of us loses hope, then you can say that there can never be no change in this country, not now, not ever.

I agree with you. I am saddened that there are a lot of Filipinos who have this notion that all the work should come from just one human being. Being President of a country is never easy and even if one may be the most powerful person in a nation, you still cannot do everything because you will still need the support, cooperation, and help of your Cabinet, other officials, and most of all you need the support of your people. Every country deserves better - the Philippines deserves better things and for this to happen, WE should help our country and help each other.

If you say that the ones who want to run for office for the 2010 Presidential Elections are not qualified, then who is? I'm sure neither you nor me can be in that position and make things any better for this country. We can't be too judgmental. We have to find it in our hearts to give people a chance. The 2010 Elections is something that we should all look forward to. We should look at it as a new day for everyone, for our country, because we're being given another chance for hope and for better lives. We must always keep in mind that it is not easy to be a mother or a father to a family. Being a teacher of 20, 30, or 40 students can also be tedious... What more if one is the "mother" or "father" of a nation of 90-million ++ people? Being President of a nation is no joke. These people running for office are not out there to just steal from their country. I'm sure that they themselves have experienced how hard life and certainly, they would want to have improvements done. I think we should give them a chance. We should give this country a chance. Change will not happen overnight, but it can happen if we cooperate & support each other instead of pulling each other down. Hope for the better.

i agree with you, change cant happen overnight but it can happen. but you should also note that change does not bring good all the time, it sometimes worsen things. and in our case here in our country that is what is happening, change is inevitable since we practice election all the time and this is one good example of not all changes brings good, it sometimes the other way around. You know I've been saying this all the time, this election is just a ceremonial replacement of an existing corrupt leaders to a lesser corrupt one.our government is a venue where a amateur corrupt individuals can practice and be molded into a world class one. our country deserves to change but not in the hands of immoral cowards who huddles themselves in the blanket of authority.the race of the Filipinos into a never ending change will not stop until we got what we seek. HOPE is the only thing we can have at this moment, if Filipino people will throw away their hope, then what will make us better from a nation without backbone ?

Well for me although there is some truth to your statement, for as long as we are given the right to choose who to lead the next administration then there is always hope that change may come. I think choosing not to exercise their right to vote is the worst kind of decision because it is there that the country would not move on to where it should be. We should not be complacent or lose hope that change would happen and it is futile to vote anymore.

I am happy about your post. I'm glad to see another person who would not choose to just wait and sit around.

I still believe that we should not be complacent when we are given the chance to change leadership. Exercising your right to vote is given to the masses every now and then why waste it because there is good choices around. Choose which one is the best but not choosing at all makes it even worst because you are not allowing the process to go on its course.

well I agree that the presidentiables are not at it for change but are the people prepared for change as well? a lot of people aspire for change but they tend to give excemptions. there are some individuals who really want change but most just want change so they could join with the flow or in tagalog "uso"

well I am sorry to dis agree with you russo maybe you are part of the some who wish change and you may know 20-600 people who wants and just exagurating to but they are only a part of the 94 mil Filipinos for example the website www.akomismo.org is a website where any one who wish to have change pledges then given a cool dogtag but it turns out majority of the people who registered only want the dogtag to be "astig" and not to swear for change. there are even reports that the people joined to get a dogtag then sell it for money so I hate to say this but most of our kababayans are only going in it for a ride I hope you get what I mean ^_^

I'd like to disagree with you. I think that NOW, a lot of Filipinos have decided not to become apathetic. The time has come that a lot of Filipinos have finally realized that they should be heard and that their vote counts. I don't think it's merely about joining the bandwagon. I admire non-government agencies with their efforts to help out in the upcoming elections. I am thankful that the media and technology are being maximized to ensure that the entire nation's made aware and well-informed.

if ill only believe that we are ready for change if majority of the poor population of our country will not look forward on the monetary offer of election. if all leaders of our country will swear before the republic to be transparent with all their assets while in power.but you think this will happen?

It is sad to hear that there are a lot of you who have lost hope for our country, for our nation and worst, for our children's future. I deeply understand your depression and your lost faith in the election process and I myself is very supportive of the majority opinion that the government is corrupt and the election is just another conspiracy of the rich and ruling elite to guarantee their plunder and feudal control. And yes, most of the presidential and local aspirants are either clowns and idiots who recycled their failure as achievement and masked their incompetence by words and gimmicks. But the question is should we just boycott the 2010 election because there's no hope? I think it would be ridiculous to even think about or much entertain the thought that we should never vote at all. You see election is another chance for us for a change. It may not come overnight or even in our lifetime. What's important is that you must exercise you sacred and God-given right to vote. Not for the the idiots who thinks he is the best president, not for the morons who sell their votes to greedy and incompetent congressmen but for your future and and your child's future. If we don't vote, those corrupt politicians will win any way by cheating or by the morons who vote them. Isn't that the very reason why we should vote and convince other people to vote wisely? Remember the future is in our hands, don't let them take it away. They have to fight for it.

yes hard to say and admit but this country is sinking down. 2010 or any other election will never be a solution to socio-economic and political problems of our country. you know why? because 2010 election is just ceremonial replacement of another corrupt leaders to the existing corrupt leaders. come to think who among the presidentiables are non corrupt practicant? none right? so this coming election the least we can do is to vote for those who are lesser corrupt among the aspiring politicians. what do u think is the difference of a devil to a lesser devil? does it a make a difference? will it bring changes? this country will never change and will never move forward with this kind of government we have. i was once an elected official. i quit since i cannot bear to compromise what I've learned in school while still working in government institution.

But still election is still our only hope to effect a peaceful change and transition of power. We should exercise this right than resort to violence for change to effect. Violence won't bring us anywhere although it may bring change but then there will always be innocent victims that may become a part of this drastic change.

you are correct. aside from election i do not support any unconstitutional means of replacing our leaders because it will be a root of another violence. as I've said this election is another dark hope of our country since we are replacing a very evil leader to a lesser one. our government is a venue where an amateur corrupt can practice and become a world class one. beejay

true the problem about our government is not the people but the system. it's the very thing that pushes them to what they have become right now. even if how many politicians that we will put to a vacated office same thing will happen. if ever we will change the type of government that we have right now the problem is the same people for the pass government will be running and for sure will will. and the same scenario will occur again. they continue their corrupt doings. unless if the old members of the pass government are disqualified to run for that new government. but still it's not a grantee that there will be change. it's really a long process unless those people who run has the objective to help the people and not themselves then their might be change.

It just so dissapointing because none of the hopeful candidate is qualified for the highest position in the country. All they are up to is their own interest I don't believe that any of them have a real concern to the country's problem or to the filipino people.

It is really sad to think that we Filipino has a strong catholic background with good values but still corruption is rampant anywhere, openly and discreetly..We could just only hope that someday soon or for this coming elections of 2010, change happens for the good of all Filipino people.
