Piracy is so common here in India. Almost 90% of people using internet or computers use pirated softwares, music albums and movies. I have a similar problem, I try to convince my friends that using these pirated softwares can further degrade the reputation of country in terms of corruption. And yeah, who cares??!! What do they have to do with their nations's pride, they just want to enjoy premium services at free rates!! Now, its really difficult to mark an end or even to reduce it, as there are applications available on internet, and music sites which provide free downloads. I think the first step should be to ban those sites everywhere on internet and then sealing the proxy connections and anonymizers. But I think, the government is too lazy to take up these really challenging tasks!!

To get rid of the piracy the government should implement some strong rules. If piracy would be stopped then i think the price of the software and movies etc will be reduced.

Would the prices really drop? I think If piracy control measures were enforced then people will have no choice but to pay for the softwares , then software producing companies will increase their software prices to gain more revenue........... Just my two cents :p

I can understand downloading pirated software, games, and movies is bad, but some people do it and I can also understand why. One software may cost about $700 USD which they may need but cannot afford. They either don't have a job for whatever the reason may be, or they cannot spare that amount of money when they have priorities that must come first.

I know that why they are going for piracy, because of the cost factor. I think if we decrease piracy it will surely affect the prices of the products.

I don't tink piracy can be stopped by enforcing strong rules. Poverty won't allow people to be straight. I tink software makers should revise their security method and activation method.

OK What do you think If No one will buy pirted software or no one sell pirated software then who will purchase computer from dealers. Ok Now a days computers are cheap in India but If you add Operating System price,MS Office package price and many other necessary application price with computer price. where price will go? Like Coral Draw, Photoshop application price., Then computer selling will decrease here in india. they are buying because PC are cheap.

It will always depends on how much wealth do you have. There are several pros and cons of Piracy. There had been jobs for those who are in the flea market, it helps employ police. ;] If I had to suggest a positive aspect of pirating, I would say it could tell companies that while the demand for what they're offering is there, they aren't effectively marketing it. Perhaps the price is too high, distribution isn't far reaching enough, that sort of thing. That could lead to new methods of marketing/ distribution which could result in reaching a wider customer base. Realistically though, it is tough to find positive economic aspects from pirating. It's not much different than shoplifting.

Piracy ought to be stopped. I mean, why compromise quality with quantity? But then again, the price of original products are way over the line. the manufacturers and the entrepreneurs are the only ones who are much benefited from these products. if only the original ones are much much cheaper nowadays, then we would buy the products without compromising the quality! don't you agree? ^_^

it is difficult to do that..may be in my opinion before think to stop the piracy we must think before that many softwares, games or tohers are too much expensive and so people can't buy all and have this kind of costs!!If we think why people start downloading music from peer to peer?simply because the cd or the old cd singles were too much expensive and so people rebel to the market in this way..if i can have free why i must for them which they are so expensive? I think many productions must eb careful on prices and may be there will be many people will enjoy to have something of original but till the market told us that many things must be only for few people use these services and so piracy will grow!!

I don't think so. Most of the software are originating from other countries only and as also the cost of the such software are too high to make purchase for ordinary people. In the form of tax, they are paying very less to our country and they are used to take more from our country. No use in that. So I want to keep our money with in our country so that this can be used for us.How do you feel about my thoughts? This above may be taken as sportive. But the real fact is the price of the original version is too high. I am trying to buy the original version of the OS for more than 6 months. But I am not able to do that because of it cost.AS we are able to get it free of cost, our mind automatically turns towards the pirated copies. If we are able to get them for least amount, I will go for the original versions only and also most of us will do with the original only.
