I'm a bit of an introvert, but at social events I try to come off looking like I'm enjoying myself & I tend to make it seem like I'm a natural at interacting.
The reality is I hate socializing & I would prefer to not have to go anywhere & not have to say a word.
I often wonder why some people talk so much & if they realize that 90% of what they say is irrelevant conversation. Sometimes people open topics that I wouldn't have thought was worth mentioning.
Anyways, sometimes it's annoying, especially if the person thinks that they are the life of the party but other times I'm glad that someone else is doing all the talking so that I don't have to.

My daughter is like that. Silence seems to worry her, so if no one is talking or the television isn't on, she makes nonsensical noises to fill the space. This has gone on her whole life and she's a teen now. I yearn for silence.
I think that an idea stated with an economy of words is likely to be more to the point and better received. Having said that, I had better not write anymore...

quite a few kids do that, they can't cope with silence as they feel uncomfortable.

Hey, I am not long winded, but I hate to say that our pastor's wife is a nonstop talker, and doesn't let you get a word in edgewise. It's aggravating to say the least. My hubby says that her husband probably doesn't communicate with her much, and that may be the reason. It tires me out to be around her. This is a great topic by the way.
