my activity | Rollo1 responded to a discussion called This made me think and I think I am right. Correct me if I am wrong. in politics. 4 weeks ago When Nixon resigned and his VP, Gerald Ford, became President, Ford named Nelson Rockefeller to replace him as Vice President. I don't see why it should not be the same if any vice president suddenly died or resigned or even became president in the event of the president's resignation or death. After all, a VP candidate is chosen by the presidential candidate in the first place and is only "vot... | | Rollo1 responded to a discussion called Calling all Obama Supporters... in politics. 4 weeks ago Has anyone held him to those standards for the past three years? Did he say anything substantively different in this speech than he said in his other two SOTU speeches? His speeches set up bogeymen, those whose fault it is that YOU are not succeeding, it's THEM. He then sets himself up as the caped avenger, coming to save us all from the THEM. | | Rollo1 responded to a discussion called And some teachers think their kids aren't paying attention. ;~D in politics. 4 weeks ago Just last night, my daughter asked me to read a section from her history book and help her answer the questions which were about Hawaii. The questions were sbout how we acquired Hawaii, how we treated the Hawaiian natives and how they felt about it. I told her I didn't even need to see her textbook, I was sure it was all about the evil, imperialist Americans who trampled all over the rights of ... | | Rollo1 commented in a discussion called Newt NOW doesn't believe that politicians private lives should be investigated? in politics. 3 weeks ago I know you will always return a week or so later to put in the last word.
You said: "We all remember Newt supported the Ken Starr's witch hunt into Bill Clinton's private life even before he was president."
Starr presented an amicus brief on the Jones case, but he was not tasked with investigating the Jones case nor did he investigate the Jones case nor was he investigating Jones prior to... | | Rollo1 commented in a discussion called Rand Paul Detained by TSA in Nashville in politics. 4 weeks ago It matters because the TSA has never stopped a terrorist boarding a flight. It matters because it is an affront to civil liberties. It matters because it is an illegal search and seizure which is prohibited by the Fourth Amendment. It matters because the government has no right to x-ray you, search your person or detain you without probable cause or a warrant. They use fear, the fear of terrori... | | | | Rollo1 commented in a discussion called Rand Paul Detained by TSA in Nashville in politics. 4 weeks ago The interesting thing is that Ron Paul has been stopped by the scanners twice, due to anomalies in his knees - BECAUSE HE HAD SURGERY ON THEM. However, there is nothing in Rand Paul's knees - well, nothing but some cartilage, some tendons and the patella and as far as I know, flesh and bone don't set off alarms in the scanners. It's kind of pathetic, if you ask me. I think they just mistook whi... | | Rollo1 commented in a discussion called Rand Paul Detained by TSA in Nashville in politics. 4 weeks ago Annie, Paul said that they told him it triggered an alarm, there was never any statement that said he heard an alarm. His words: "This morning I went through the screener, and the machine said there was a hot spot near my knee." Note that he did go through the scanner an hour or so later and there was no "anomaly" reported by the machine. I have not been through a scanner myself, but I can only... | | Rollo1 commented in a discussion called Steven Hawkins comments on American Health system in politics. 4 weeks ago Then why write the post? Well yes, I do see the point was to call Americans "stupid" and "uneducated" and "blinded" and so on, but still, their apparent misconceptions about the NHS (as you see it) must have annoyed you enough to write the post. | | Rollo1 commented in a discussion called Steven Hawkins comments on American Health system in politics. 4 weeks ago "Now it comes as no surprise to Europeans and perhaps the rest of the world that Americans are so blinded by their belief in the dogma of their free market health system that they might believe such nonsense about the UK national health service..."
The problem here is, Americans don't really care what you think about us. I think Ferris Bueller said it best:
"I mean, really, what's the poi... | |
