Phil Jackson surpassed Red Auerbach with 10 championships so why not rename the Championship Trophy?

Let's just stay it up there.. Red is still one of the best coaches in the NBA history.. It's like saying that the logo should change to Michael Jordan from Jerry West..

yes, i know what your talking about. their thinking about changing the nba logo. i think their trying to update the nba to make it look more modern so they won't be stuck in the past. i wouldn't mind the nba logo being changed to show Michal Jordan but making too many changes wouldn't be a good thing.

Hey elmiko! I know what you're saying, but I don't know if they will just rename the trophy even though Phil Jackson did surpassed Red Auerback by a year! It would be nice, but I'm not sure it works like that! I guess we'll have to see if they do decide to rename the trophy! Either way I'm sure that Phil Jackson is just happy to have it!

yeah i really don't think Phil Jackson could care whether they rename it to his name or not as his place in history has been made. i didn't think he would win 10 championship with how bad things were going with the Lakers around the beginning of last year. i guess it was me being stuck in the moment of how bad they were before they made the trade to get Paul Gasol.

It's an interesting thought but I think it would take away from the tradition of the sport. Football hasn't renamed the Lombardi trophy. Lord Stanley I don't think even played hockey. I lived in a city once where every time an important politician croaked they renamed an important street after him. It was a little crazy.
