Ok gyys do you think hosting the world cup in south africa is a good idea . I mean traditionally it is not a soccer savvy nation . Will it have the infrastructure in place to host a event on the scale of a world cup . Will it be able to accomodate the humongous amount of tourits pouring in from every nook and corner of the globe? What do you guys think

i don't know if south africa will be really ready to host next world cup but i guess so seeing that they give to this country the responsability and organization too!!probably it would be a good opportunity to soar their infrastructures and economy too seeing that normally these vents will bring much money as well and so tourism and big image for the country!!May be for many people want follow the games matches should be in a time really uncomfortable for the majority of the county considering the local time in south africa..anyway we will see..

Time Zones - The World Time Zones
I really don't understand what you mean by saying South Africa has an uncomfortable time zone for most of the countries... South Africa is on the GMT+2h time zone, only 1 hour later than Italy or Germany... Was it a better time when the World cup was hosted by the USA or by South Korea and Japan?

I think the big boys of FIFA don't care about these aspects any more. The decision to rotate the organization of the World Cup across the continents is a political one, designed to bring them more votes in the FIFA elections. And what a better continent to begin with than Africa (the continent with the most countries and most voters)? I think South Africa has the appropriate stadiums to host this competition (they will use some of the rugby arenas), but the infrastructure is otherwise inappropriate, such is the country's security. I don't think it will be a very good organized World Cup. For example, the recently ended Confederations Cup, also hosted by South Africa, presented an annoying buzzing along with every transmission... What was that all about???
