Man's Inhumanity

I listen to the news, I read about and see history on TV and I am stunned by the examples of how evil mankind can be. Vlad the Impailer - he oiled sharpened stakes and "impailed" people on them to die a slow agonizing death, men, women, even children. It makes my heart cry. The Spanish Inquisition - people were tortured and put to death because they dared to want to live differently than the Catholic Church wanted them to live. Hitler - he killed millions because they were different than him Today's Darfur - people are killed, women are raped- for what? Today, thugs are attacking, torturing, killing and maiming the helpless. Why? Our history is strewn with horrors that humans inflict on humans and let us not forget the abuse we have and still inflict on animals. I see, daily, the loss of compassion, the self-centeredness of people who without any concern for their victim, attack the helpless. Why? Some of our young people have no compassion for others, they are being raised to, well that's the point, the children are actually raising themselves, the parents are mentally, physically and emotionally absent, self-absorbed. Their chilren are learning to be spoiled, self-centered copies of their parents. We are raising the next generation of abusers, murderers, torturers and if possible worse. If God were to destroy mankind, I can certainly understand why. He must be very disappointed with His finest creation. The only glimmer of hope is those people who still have the capacity to love their fellow human beings. They will "Inheiret the Earth", perhaps as soon as 2012 if prophecy is to be believed.

I like what you wrote here, it's very true. There has been far too much killing and torture, yet I am amazed that the population of people on this earth is still so huge. I am looking forward to when God takes care of business, if you know what I mean. I have a question though, why did Vlad bother with oiling the stakes before he impailed people? Thanks a bunch.
