They know nothing about discussion yet answer it anyway - asuggestion

Yesterday I started a discussion and instead of someone helping me with it or saying "I will look it up, here are some links," I got the "I do not know anything," answer. I figure the reason is that when you put the 'notify on' with your friend or friends, and you go to your email box, and open the link, instead of going to like when you start the discussion on the main mylot page or in the "notify me when someone responds to my comment,' OR "when someone starts a new discussion," or the "Someone's given you a best response," it goes to the text box. Now when I had notify on, I usually when to that person's profile and searched for that discussion and saw if I were to be the first one, if I knew nothing about the subject, but not many will do that. So would it not be a good idea for mylOT to do the same with the notify on in the friends division as everywhere else?

I expect it is because people who do not know the answer may just stop by and respond to your post because they are your friend and are giving you support. They often do not have time to search for the answer either - especially if they are working. I love it when people stop bye to say hi even if they don't know the answer. I know that they would answer if they could.

Well, they are on this site for the same reason that many people are on this site. It's not for the discussions, or the people. It's simply for the money that they earn while doing so. It gives them a reason. So, with this simple fact in mind... Why wouldn't somebody reply to everything they possibly could.. Even if they no nothing about it? The earnings from the replies. It's not like some of us have never done this before. We have all probably replied or talked about something we no nothing about, whether on here, somewhere else, or in real life itself. If you think about it for a few minutes, the answer becomes clear enough.

I am here for the money as well as for helping others, and for the love of writing, but I am wise enough to know that short I do not knows do not pay as much as I know very little, but I looked it up, and here are some links. You see, there are some subjects that I answered that I had to do that exact thing, go on the net and look for the answer. I mean did you not do the same? It is only common sense.

We are told not to post anything if we have nothing of substance to say so it is not correct here on myLot to do so.

If I do not know anything, I can look it up for them. I assume that many people here have only dial up and of course they would be here for hours if they had to look it up themselves, so I do it for them. Besides I am good at putting things in my own words.

When I get one of those non-responses, "I don't know anything about what you are discussing, but have a nice day and happy MyLotting", I just ignore it and pretend it isn't even there. Also, I don't see the point of this kind of response as it is too short to count for anything except as a response in your total. I don't think you get paid for one-line responses. It is useless to respond when you have zilch to contribute to the discussion. I have also noticed that the purveyors of this type of response don't last long on myLot anyway.

In reading through some of the other responses to this discussion, I had an idea. Maybe myLot should have a way you can mark a discussion that you find interesting but don't want to respond to so that you can watch it and see how it develops. Kind of like on the auction sites where you can mark an item to watch and see how the bidding goes.

It does not make me feel any better getting those "I do not know" because there are some discussions I really want help on, and to have someone say that is not just a wast of money, it makes me think they do not care.

If I have nothing to add to the discussion then I just do not answer. I follow the guidelines where it says: add something of substance to the conversation.

I hardly look at the discussions, but I believe that what you write here, should help someone and if it does not you are just wasting touching your fingers on the keyboard." So I avoid answering discussions I do not answer, and I have decided not to put the notify on until at such time it is fixed.

I find people that do that really annoying. Also these people that give such short and useless responses mustnt know much about how mylot works, because in order to generate any kind of income from postings you need to be posting informative and quiality responses, rather than just 'yes' or 'no' or whatever. At the end of the day they're wasting their own time really. What is even more annoying is when you realy need an answer and you post it then it goes in the articles with no responses section and somebody with only one or two postings so far will just put 'no' or even worse, just gobbledygook because they think it will increase their posting number more quickly. If you want to participate then you should do so, if not then why bother signing up anyway? I dont get any e-mails from mylot. I opted out because I know I dont have the time to check them all but I can see your point and agree.

I opted out on emails except for the best responses on myLot as I want to see if after I got the best response, they commented on my response so I can respond to that. I mean some subjects are interesting that they could go on and on.

Sometimes I will see that a long time has passed on someone's disscussion, and they still haven't received a comment from anyone. So I will drop in to give what information I can. I mainly figure that the discussion starter can look up online for the information he\she needs anyway.

So why bother coming to myLot anyway if you are going to look it up? I think people want information from the mylotters as well. At least I do. There are people from all over the world, and people who have more information and I have looked for info. going three or four pages down. Not that fun.

Just recently I have started a discussion which is similar. Its very annoying sometimes. I have seen its everywhere in mylot. In many responses the user is not sure about the topic, They just reply to increase the post number and earn revenue.I started few, they responded some with no value at all.

Hello suspsnsful, I agree with you, and I avoid discussions unless I can add something supportive, objective, or pass on some information that's helpful to the discussion. I started a discussion recently, and got a one word response, "toon" and I have no idea what the poster was thinking. Have a nice day.

I quess I respond as time, energy, and mental status allows. I try to respond to everyone on my friends list but sometimes I have to pick and choose. Hope this answeres your question?
