It is an excellent practice for anyone learning English. Especially for the use of the past tense, and to a lesser degree the future. When I was teaching English in Thailand, I encouraged all my students to keep a diary.

I don't envy you kapiyu. A lot of older people have difficulty quitting. I gave up nearly twenty years ago, by convincing myself that all I needed to give up was one cigarette, the first one. That worked for me, so get your parents to try. If that didn't work, I would get as much information about the damage smoking, and passive smoking does, and leave it where your parents will see it. Sure I rate hem, and about 98% are positive. When I only get about half-a-dozen replies, mostly from friends, they are usually all constructive, even if they don't agree with me.

Depression is a disease, and that's what you describe here. I used to suffer this when I drank alcohol, but since I stopped, my life is more worthwhile. I also like to help people, and get a great lift when I do. In my opinion we often set ourselves an unrealistic goal. I find if you have one of these, iy's a good and realistic goal to set stepping stone goals along the way.

Hi mentalward, Thank you for your detailed reply. I'm happy to report that I finally have a reply to one of my queries, and they responded to a 'snsil mail' I sent after getting nothing from their web site, or the many emails I sent them. The response was very favourable also. However, it was verbal, so I still need a written verification.
