I have always enjoyed birthdays, but somehow there's always this sad feeling inside to spoil the mood for knowing that you are actually getting older and the target you set when you are younger still seems so far away. Its like a ball in the sea, the more you try to catch it the further away it becomes. How can i overcome this?

Whew... should I be happy that it's your birthday or should I not? :) ..Well. they say that age is an attitude..And growing old is mandatory but growing up is optional. For me, I just look at birthdays as time to be grateful for one more year of life that has given. Life is beautiful if we think beautiful thought. Just like what Peter Pan says:Think happy thoughts. If you are frustrated for having come to that age and still doesn't get the things that you hoped to get by that age, don't be sad. We don't always get the things we want, but we should just be grateful for the things that are coming along our way even if we don't ask for it like a friend and some other things that money can't buy that make us happy.

You are absolutely right. life is just to short to just be down on myself on such a wonderful day. I am glad that i am still alive and to be blessed with a beautiful and faithful wife which i never dream could happen. Life is just so unpredictable i must say. Thank for the positive remarks.

I know your problem, because I experienced it myself, and so did almost everyone I know. You have 'I'm nearly 30 syndrome,' and it starts around the 27th or 28th birthday. 30 seems so much older than 20 something, and we don't want to get there, so we worry about it, which is totally illogical, as we can't halt the passage of time. Plan something great for your 30th, like a special holiday or a big party. Don't let the day slip by unmarked, because the only cure for 'I'm nearly 30 syndrome' is to face the big date head on. It's not so bad when it arrives, and if you look after yourself physically and mentally, you'll never look your age anyway. Be comforted by the fact that approaching 40 and 50 is a breeze after the dreaded 30. I'm 57, and I spent my 40th birthday in Monte Carlo and my 50th having a huge party. I can't wait to see what my husband has planned for my 60th. The mumber on your birth certificate doesn't matter, if you live your life to the full. Happy birthday, and many more of them!
