Disgusted. Simply disgusting when I found out that a local council funded the capture and exile programme in an island off Klang port, Pulau Ketam. The reason given was those dogs were too many and started to become a nuisance to the community there. The capture and exile option were opted because they say that putting the dogs to sleep is much more expensive. The dogs were captured and transported using boat to a deserted island to allow them to live on their own. Little do they know, these are domesticated dogs. How do they expect them to be able to live on their own and hunt for their food? Moreover, there were no clean water. This story came to light when a group of animal lover investigated the claims. The story went worldwide and many animal lover's groups came to help. But, it was rather too late. They found that many of the dogs were dead and those still alive were feeding off the carcases of their own kind. Rescue efforts were hard too because the dogs were to afraid to approach human. Food were strewn to lure them but they just go deeper into the mangroove forest. Those rescued had flesh eating worms on their legs. Some were very thin. Sadly, some had to be put to sleep due to their condition were beyond. Look for "Pulau Ketam dogs" in Google search engine to learn more about this rescue effort. My question: Why would simple common sense can't be practised by people who has the power?

They had started the rescue mission to save the dogs. In fact, there are few dogs already in good homes. The fact still remain that why can't they think of better options?

Well, siverjack. The problem is, the Dewan Bandaraya (City Hall), and the Majlis Perbandaran (Town Council) folks are not allowed to touch dogs because of religion, so how do we expect them to love dogs? Therefore, shoot on sight!! I've just put up a discussion on this matter.

ah well, these people just don't love animals.when people are cruel to animals, sooner or later these people will be unkind to other human beings.I believe that a country's stature is based on how well it treats its animals.animals are really, really defenseless against humans.they can't speak, they can't voice out their opinions.animals have the most basic needs on earth, yet the are neglected.they don't need new clothes or shopping money.they just need love, care, and understanding, yet humans can't give it to them.
