Do you have a pool?

Since my kids are small we always had a little kiddie pool for in the summer time. Now it seems just about everyone has one of those quick set pools that are around 3 or 4 feet deep. So of course my daughter wants one. I would love to have something that size to go for a little swim in. Hubby doesn't want a pool though. Says it will kill the grass. I can't exactly swim in a kiddie pool. However, I will sit in the kiddie pool without feeling embarrassed by it. Do you have a pool in your backyard?

You should really learn how to swim. It is so much fun. I'm trying to teach my daughter but right now she just gets frustrated with me whenever I try to teach her.

We have a small one for the twins too. But I would love a the quick set one for me to lie in. I think that it would be great. I haven't heard of these pools but will go online to check it out.

We don't have a private pool. I love to swim in the pool but unfortunately, we don't have. On summers, when we feel like going to swim, we rent a private pool in a town nearby. They offer not just a swimming pool but they also have spa and hot springs.

No, I don't have one in my backyard, but I do have one. My husband just hasn't gotten around to putting it up and we bought it 2 summers ago! LOL At the rate we're going it's not going up this summer either. A pool that is 3 or 4 feet deep may not be much to enjoy, but it definitely beats the kiddie pools any day, that's for sure!

No we don't have a pool. Our son had one but decided they didn't use it enough so he took it down and gave it to our granddaughter, she has it now and they really enjoy using it, it is a large above ground pool. They live out of the city limits and it is a good thing since they didn't put a fence around it and that is a city code, you have to have a fence high enough that small children can't get into the pool and drown the fence has to be at least 6 foot tall.

I'm sure you're right about the depth of the pool, I really meant pools that were much deeper than that.

I'm glad she's enjoying it. I think the pool has to be a certain amount of inches in order to need a fence. I need to check into that.

No we dont have pool in the backyard but where planning to have one. My daughter love to swim she was 19 months old but i can see to her how happy she is everytime she swims in the pool. So we are planning to have one when we have our own house but at this time my daughter was enjoying swimming in bath tub.

It is good that your daughter isn't afraid of water and also that she learn to swim. My wife never learned to swim when she was small and she is still afraid to get her head under water. She can swim a little "dog fashioned" but her head doesn't dare go under water. I learned to swim when I was in the Boy Scouts. When I was in the Air Force we flew SA-16 aircraft which could land on water. When we would practice water landings and takeoffs, we would put out the anchor and dive off of the wing tips. This is when I was stationed in Saudi Arabia and it was very hot there. Make sure when you build your pool to include a fence surrounding it, it's a law in our community.

Hello Shar. No, I don't have a pool in my backyard. But, the gym is not too far from my house. So, I do go to the gym over the weekends. They have a very nice swimming pool there, very well managed. Oh yes, it's always very refreshing to have a swim there. Have a nice day !

We had one of those quick set dealies and beware that inflaitable ring gets holes in it pretty easily and birds like to perch on it wich is probably where the pin holes come from. But we ended up buying something similar but a framed one and we've had that now for two seasons and it works out just fine & the filter system actually "filters" the water unlike the quick set. I have yet to use mine this season though, it's up but I can't find my swim suit and I hate the feel of wet clothes all stuck to you though my hubby would disagree w/ that statement . So really the kids use the itty bitty $15 pool from wally world to splash in.

Yeah I actually have one of the kiddie pools. I got one this year so when I am outside mowing my yard if I got really hot, which is common, I can just hop in it. I also like to just sit in it on hot days and read my trashy novels updating my suntan. It's just big enough lounge around in, not swim. I was thinking of getting a bigger one next year, but I think I am sticking with this. It fits all the needs for me....and one day I may get a bigger one, but I got enough to keep me busy now. And you're right. Almost everyone has a pool now.

It's nice to just lounge in the pool all by yourself. Bring on the novels!

Yes I have a pool in my backyard but it's not an inflateable pool. It's one of those pools that are in the ground. It goes from three feet to five feet. I like it because only a few people actually swim in it. (i live in an apartment) so it's not to crowded.

I did have a pool before I moved a year and a half ago. I loved it. It was an above ground pool so it was big enough for me to swim too. My girls learned how to swim in it. I have actually been thinking of getting one where I live now but they are a lot of work! A kiddie pool would be great if my girls were smaller. I had those when they were. I didn't care one bit to sit in it and cool off or play with the girls in it. It will kill the grass but if you take it down, you can always sew a little grass seed doen. Grass grows pretty quick.

Hi Shar, I don't have a pool and don't want a pool. We live close to the sea in an area which has a growing problem with water supplies and I think it is a misuse of a natural resource to have one here. Lots of foreigners are moving to the area and having private pools installed which makes the water situation much worse but you never see a person who has always lived in the area have one. I believe a ban should be introduced on private pools in this area but I would not condemn them in other places where there is no problem with water and there is no sea practically on the doorstep.

You're never too old for a pool. Even a little kiddie pool you could soak your legs in.

I do have a pool in my back yard. It is 12ft by 3 ft deep and is one of those quick set pools by Intex. Where you fill up the ring with air and then as youre filling the pool it rises on its own. It is perfect for my husband and myself. I am 34 weeks pregnant and have had it since around 20 weeks. It truely has been a lifesaver for me, especially since we live in the Mojave desert. We even bought pool toys for us, we're such big kids. We love it and the purchase itself has already paid itself off! I HIGHLY recommend getting one of these pools! Good luck

I haven't got a pool in our backyard - mainly because I haven't got a yard. LOL. My side and front yard have quite a slant to them and I wouldn't be able to set one up. My kids don't need one though. My town is pretty cool. Both up and down the hill have a part that includes a wading pool. Our rec center provides a life guard at each from 9 am until 4 pm. The kids have alot of fun at the pool and it's only about a 5 minute walk from our house.

I wish I had a pool so bad, pools are the best thing to have in the summer. A couple of my friends have pool in their backyards and I go over there every now and then to swim but it would be so much nicer if I had my own pool to swim in.
