Do you cry often?

I was once probably the world's biggest crybaby! I cried over practically everything. As I've grown older I find that the tears hardly ever fall, even when I am very sad. Have you ever cried a lot? For me crying is so therapeutic because it seems to clear out all of the clutter in my mind. Few would argue that we don't feel much better after having a good cry. Of course, some see crying as a sign of weakness, but even the strongest people have a need to cry at some time in their life. Crying strengthens me because after I let all of the bad stuff out I usually feel like I can take on the world. What about you?

I cry myself when I am mad or when I am fighting with someone. To me it lets off steam. I don't think anything is wrong with crying. of course I have been called a cry baby but I don't care really. I feel like it helps me to get over being upset or angry.

Crying is simply another way of showing our emotions, Shaun, and some people just don't get it.

No, I wouldn't say that I cry a lot. I do cry occasionally, but not that often. I don't think that I have a lot to cry about.

People cry for many different reasons, dodo, which doesn't necessarily mean that crying is an act of sadness.

I still cry often. I cry when I see a sad news on TV, when I read a sad story on the Internet, when I am reading a tearjerker, when I get stung by people's words, when I see my baby deliver her latest impressive antics. The last one I cry over out of joy. Crying for me, like you said, is therapeutic. After a good cry everything seems to be SO much brighter, people seem MUCH less hostile.

We were given the ability to cry for a reason, kayedanda, and I believe it is to make us ultimately feel better!

I've never cried much my entire life. Even before I was optimistic and climbed out of my depression, I didn't cry hardly at all. It's not that I try not to--I just tend to get very lazy and quiet when I'm sad rather than burst into tears, although I understand the need for a good cry. For some reason, when I'm sad I gain the ability to go to sleep whenever wherever--almost as if when I wake up my problems will be gone. My husband is the crier (is that even a word? Haha) of the two of us. If he gets upset he will start crying. That's part of what attracts me to him--the ability to show his emotions--yet I can't do the same. And when I do cry--it's never in front of anyone except my husband. None of my friends have ever seen me cry. I tend to hold everything in before I go off and cry when I need to. I do cry happy tears and laughter tears a lot, but hardly ever do I cry because I'm sad.

I think you will learn, Lovinglife, that our crying habits can often change depending on which stage of our life we happen to be in. You are lucky that your hubby is a sensitive man.

Yes,I also cry often. As a university student,I want to get good marks in the study. But sometimes, I can't reach my gold.So I will cry quietly late at night and tell myself that I can fullfill my gold next time. But after the cry, I always feel very tired.Besides, I have fallen in love with my boyfriend for almost three years , sometimes, we quarrel.I do not know how to deal with it and I do not want to talk with him.I just wait for his phonecall or his message.During the long waiting ,I will remind many things happened between us,no matter happy or sad, I will cry.Very often, I cry very sadly. But after the cry , I felt better. As a daughter, my father pass away several years ago, leaving the heavy burden to my mother. Whenever I think of my mother working to make money for my tuition fee. I felt very sad, I also ceien quietly. I would tell myself to study hard to find a good job to make much money to return my mother's love.In a word , I cry often. In my opinion, cry sometimes gives me motivation to study hard or work hard.

Yes I think that some times things pile up on us to the point that we find it necessary to just go off by ourselves and cry. It takes all the bad feeling we are having out of our systems. I don't believe it is a sign of weakness to cry, more it a sign of feelings that we have bottled up inside us. When we get done, it is like after the rain, everything is clear and the problems we had don't seem so bad anymore. I cry a lot when I'm here by my self especially at night, and talk to God while I'm crying, maybe he will feel that I am letting go of things that I have kept bottled up in me for so long. It is a cleasning of the soul I believe.

I don't see crying as a sign of weakness at all either. I think that it is important to be able to let out your emotions or they tend to fester and build inside. I don't cry as easily as I used to at all but yes...still cry. Like you said, a good cry tends to clear the mind and that is so true i think.

Yes, sid, I see crying as a means to an end. The emotional pressure that we experience in day-to-day life is overwhelming at times, so we need the outlet of crying.

I am a very emotional person. I have panic attacks and social anxiety. I had a recent bad bout with this so I had to go on some anxiety medication. I don't cry like I used to. I used to watch a silly commercial on tv and I could cry. Now I don't any longer. I am sure if I like this or not. I figure I am a sensitive and emotional person for a reason. I had a very bad upset thought and had to go on the meds. I am still wondering if it was better to go on the meds or if I should go off of them. The bad time is over. I am wondering.

I'm sorry that you've had a bad experience, celticeagle, but I am glad that the storm has now passed. In my opinion, I think you should quit using the meds if possible.

You aren't weak simply because you cry, kmaram. Crying is more like a valve to help us to relieve the pressures of our emotions.

Do you cry often.......... Hi there worldwise1, Usually I don't cry too often because I feel like what's the use in crying, it's not going to change nothing. So my newest philosophy has become "smile and the world smiles with you, cry and you cry alone". I try not to make crying a regular habit. But instead I try to keep my focus on more positive ways that I can use my energy. Don't get me wrong, there are many things that happen in this world that I could cry over but I choose instead not to cry. Hope this helps someone........ Happy Mylot.

Sorry, Citychic, but I must disagree with you on this because I feel that we cannot go through life sugar-coating everything. If there is never any rain how can we appreciate the sunshine?

I did not , I can cry if I cannot handle things easier. If my hardships and baggages in life is so heavy and I cannot bear it anymore. I will cry it because my heart is already full of sentiments and problems. After I can cry on , I will be relieve to face the trials and hardships in life. It is true that crying can washes the dirt in our eyes and it will be cleansed.

Many people don't like to cry if they have an audience, persona, so we should do it in a way that is suitable for us.

Nothing wrong in crying. I only allow tears though when someone I love is in pain or in a dangerous situation. I could not hold them. I feel that my chest is going to burst. So I cry.

I agree with you. I also cry to much when I was on my younger age, but now I cant easily cry. I had a lot of experiences in life that I think that makes me stronger and the reason why tears doenst fall so easily unlike before. Yes it is true that after the my tears came out I feel good. But now I dont know what is happening, am I really stronger now or I have a feeling of hatred so tears doesnt fall?

there is a saying that say, "real men don't cry." what a total crap that is! in some cultures, crying is a form of weakness. mostly asians like the chinese and japanese teach their children not to cry but keep their disappointments to themselves. there are cultures that are not very affectionate and showy with their emotions. if they love somebody, they do not say it. if they cry or feel like crying, they do not show their weakness. as for me, crying has always been therapeutic. it doesn't make me feel less of a man if i cry. in fact, i feel more like a man and a real person. whenever i am downcast, i usually cry in my prayers to God. usually, i do not show others that i am crying but i do cry out a lot to the Lord especially when i have problems. although i'm no cry baby but crying is still part of my being. i may not cry as much as other people but i still cry whenever the need arises or when i am filled with emotions.

Yes, tomjoad, I do feel that there is too much criticism of crying because it is a means of showing our emotions, nothing less or more.
