What's the best cure for stiffness caused by sitting in front of the computer too long? I have spent too much time on front of this computer and have very sore muscles. Does anybody else get this?

I get a very sore and stiff right shoulder, it tightens and burns. The pain lasts for ages after I get off the computer. Using a mouse pad with wrist support really helped.

It seems to be a very common problem. I think there si something about computer posture that causes stiffness and pain. What kind of wrist support do you mean? I haven't heard of that before... THanks for your response :)

I have had that problem in the past too. One thing you can try is standing up and stretching every half hour or at least once an hour. Just stretching and loosening up helps me a great deal.

That's a great suggestion! My problem is I often forget to stand up. You know how it is - once you really "get into" what you are doing. I can go hours without stretching, standing up etc and only realize once my shoulders are killing me that I have been neglectful of myself. Maybe I should set a "stand up and stretch" reminder on my phone - LOL!

I get it, I broke my color bone, and both my arms, but my neck is killing me and agrevates my migraines. I find that the best way for me is exercise, but once you have a spinal injury it is seldom that it goes away!

That mustve been insanely painful! I know what you mean about exercise - once the pain gets too bad I indulge in some yoga. Wish the solution took a little less effort though :)

I get it. It tends to be positional. Get an ergonomic chair to support your body. Also make sure your monitor is at a good height for you. These things can help you avoid the tension in the first place. I also will take a break at least hourly, just get up and move and that helps tremendously.

You are so right! It's definately from sitting all wrong. Unfortunately there is no mulah for extravagances like ergonomic chairs ;) Are they expensive? Do you have one?

I do!! Especially that i got injured on my left shoulder 2 yrs ago, and it never really went away. I usually put either an ice pack or a hot pack on my shoulder and neck area to ease the tension and pain. Of course, if it's bad to this point, you should take a break from the pc!

Thanks so much for the suggestion! Of course you are right ~ getting away from the computer would be the best solution! Unfortunately I work on the computer too (so it's not juuust myLot addiction). Hot pack is a great idea - it really calms the tension!
