Nowadays lot many mothers are opting for C-section delievery(to ease for the labor pain), But what i feel its better to have a normal delivery. What do you feel??, and how your kids very born, normal or Ceserian..

Hi Neha, My only child was born thru C-section and it was a conscious choice. Let me admit that I chickened out and the very thought of so many people pulling and tugging and cutting open a very sensitive area and the pain and the stitching up…all done without anesthesia was a very frightening prospect to me. though the second responder says that it can be done with local anesthesia, I don’t know how coz if we don’t feel the pressure and the contractions, we cant really push! Maybe there are ways which I don’t know…however, my reasoning is that medical science has progressed a lot and operations have become very sophisticated to minimize the risk. In any case, there is always a possibility of any operation going wrong…for that we don’t hesitate to undergo operation for a lot many things…so why not pregnancy? If the technology is there, why no use it to make a very painful process, easier for the women?

Interesting concept, but I do not know when or where your child was born, but right now in the USA inducing labor and giving the mother a spinal block is what many couples or mothers choose. They also use birthing chairs or birthing bed where the mother is in a setting position to make delivery easier. They have moniters that tell you when you are having a contracting and the spinal blok does not stop you from being able to push. I wish this technology was available when my children were born more than 20 years ago. I had three children naturally. I have also had several surgries due to problems in that area and I can assure you that it is easier to recover from natural childbirth than to recover from surgery. It is better for the mother and the child in NORMAL situations to have a natural childbirth.

Hi I am from India and the spinal block is a regular procedure here too. However, many women I know have complained of lower back pain in the spinal area after the procedure..so I think this is quite fraught with danger for us ladies.

Yes it is good to have normal delivery and i cooperate with your thought but unfortunate my wife underwent c-section twice for both the kids as she had problem during delivery time.

Normal delivery is a lot better according to my OB-GYNE. Having a C-section is like having an operation and the body is never truly the same after an operation. Also there is a possibility for the cut to create a scar or like what happened to my officemate, she came back to work a little too early and her cut opened up and got infected... If you are afraid of the labor pain, you can opt for painless labor anyway, meaning you can have anesthesia injected and whenever it starts to wear off, they inject some more than way you can feel the contractions without the pain. I gave birth twice, both normal. Recovery is a lot faster too in normal deliveries

i prefer normal delivery. I haven't experienced it though. During our duty in hospitals, we get to assist in delivering babies. Normal spontaneous delivery or NSD mothers usually recover faster than c/s mothers. In addition, the maximum amount of blood loss in NSD would be 500ml while in c/s, it's a 1000ml. Hope that helped.Ü
