Are you different?

I have found almost everywhere that people have this habit of using surnames more often. They want to be addressed by their surnames. Very few people call them by their maiden names. Some how I hate this. I want to be different. I use my maiden name everywhere. That is my identity. Why walk in the shadow when you can light your path? Why can't you be different when you can? meapas.

well that's what you want, that's your right and that's okay! as for me, it don't matter to me whatever other people will gonna call me...my surname, my first name, my maiden name...its okay. that's still me! when i am still single i am carrying my father's surname and of course most people calls me Ms.(my fathers surname) that's fine with me coz that's the surname i am using and carrying. now, i get married, i am carrying my husband's surname...we are one now and i am proud to be his wife & glad to use his surname and happy when i hear people calling me Mrs. (my husband's surname) with all that i don't feel that i am walking in a shadow but i feel that i am a part of that family and that's me...

Well good to know that you bond well with your family, be it father or husband. Be proud of your family. I appreciate that, rest doesn't matter. meapas.

I believe it depends upon your environment; in the military you name becomes your rank and your surname. I do not particularly care what people call me just as long as it is not insulting and/or derrogetory. I am me no matter what label life assigns to me.
